Sorry about your mother's troubles 'Devil.  I've got a suggestion.

Is there a separate humidity control for your AC unit?  If you set the unit for minimum humidity you can dry the air in the house and not need a very high cool setting.  That's our usual setting in our house.  Removing a lot of the humidity helps as much as a high cool setting.  You can run the air at a lower setting and Mom won't feel so cold.  Worth a try if it's possible.

When they say "It's not the heat, it's the humidity!" that's absolutely true.

72 and cloudy.  On the phone for first Human Services Board meeting since Feb.  One lady wants to talk all the time.  She's like that all the time.  So good when she doesn't attend [Usually traveling the world.  Husband stays home.  Understand why.] Chair cut her off.  She has to go off in Nov.

After meeting, getting my first real haircut since Feb.

Gov holding us in phase 2 and state-wide mask requirement.  Right wing Legislature can't get over ride veto of their stupid reopen bills.  NC numbers skyrocketed.

Later.

Mornin' boys.  Sunny & 61 along the Patterson Creek cut-off.  Taking youngest princess to dentist this morning, then grandson fishing this afternoon.  Oldest princess arriving tonight, with the curly top.

Yesterday, we did guy stuff.

fife... I did a little research of No. 19 and it's restoration is about 90% complete. The rear trucks are still being worked on and will be installed maybe next week. It should be firing in under two weeks. Sorry, no junk.

For those who don't know about No. 19, this link should help explain why fife wanted a piece of scrap.

TGIF!!!
Yes, some of us still work....lol

Had to go shopping for cat food and go that done by 1030 PM - I left late.  In bed and fed by midight - I got caught up in the movie Commuter (it just happened to have trains in it).

The M10000 is done, finally and I can get it back to Jenni's friend. Hope to get that accomplished tomorrow, depending on if I can get my sister to hang at the house for a while.

The 1130 project now rolls and gets power, does not go anywhere.  I think the E-Unit is stuck and my contact cleaner is at Jenni's house, so that will have to wait.  I found my dremel and it has only low speed.  I polished the wheels and the side rods on the 1130.  And I'll need a light bulb from Advance Auto.

So the vest saga is over, Mom can't wear it and her cardio doc will speak with her on Monday during the follow up. She's breathing better, just need to get the meds right.  She is tired and weak, but 2 weeks after stent, I figure it'll be another 2 weeks before she's up to speed like she was.

Flint - Mom likes the house, um WARM, and I stay in the hottest/coldest part of the house.  The cold part I can deal with, the hot?   eh, not so much - 1 unit of AC/Heat for the whole house.  No dehumidifier in the house.  We're gonna try setting the house to 80 and see if the AC will cut the humidity when that happens.

Fife - yeah, I could mistake you for Ernie.......Guy stuff - love it!!

Buckeye - interesting stuff on the 19 engine.  Like the fact that there are LOTS of steamers coming on line.  Road trip is in order in the fall, I think.

Summer upper 80s, southern breeze coming in the back patio door, humidity back tomorrow.  I'm enjoying it while I can.

Back to it - check back later

Hello there from Fenwick Island Delaware.

Don.......WOW! Watch out for them trees.

Buckeye......neat stuff.

Been working on this off and on all week. I did manage to rent a car Monday. Ammco still saying my Tahoe should be done today.

Other than the excitement Saturday a pretty laid back week so far. We visited Assateague twice. We only got out for the rest room and a quick look at the bay side beach both times. One evening after supper we all went to the beach til dark. It was relatively deserted. Son did some surf fishing, the girls played in the sand and their mom read while Mrs and I enjoyed the sights.
Let's just say social distancing is not being practiced much around here, especially on the beach and boardwalk. A lot of the local establishments look the same as always. Most restaurants are trying, some are still take out only while most are reservation only. A couple of them look like nothing changed. The grocery stores and thrift stores are taking it seriously.

Toy Town's Facebook page said they were closed till further notice on March 21 due to covid. Their Facebook page has been wrong before so I drove by the one in Berlin and found an Opening Soon sign on the door. As far as I could tell all the other stores were open except the restaurants .

I did find a train store I've been missing for 20 years.

http://seasidehobbies.com/

located near Bethany Beach DE it's a small stone packed with trains of all scales, mostly used. I picked up a Lionel HO gondola with load for cheap.
Spent most of yesterday on the fishing pier at Cape Henlopen State Park. Most people there were masked and social distancing. We had just finished our picnic lunch under a pavilion when it clouded up and started thundering in the distance when the park rangers cleared the pier and recommended we leave the pavilion. He said it was regularly struck by lightning. We weren't far from the park when the skies opened. TV said 1.5 inches in less than an hour

Best go see what the plans for the day are. Son has to leave this evening

Prayers for those in need and the end of this pandemic.

My God, I saw "Emperor Of The North" years ago, and once was enough.  Ernest Borgnine's "Shack" was so terrifying I never wanted to watch it again, and I don't scare or shock easily, especially if "It's just a movie!"  That tells you what a good actor Ernie was, those who knew him said he was the greatest guy you'd ever want to meet.

Morning All,

Fife, Really like the pictures.  One of the GREATEST benefits of the hobby we share.  Opportunities of teaching youngsters how to use tools and developing skills.  And fun in the process.

Buckeye, That is really cool about Eng 19, definetely a really great movie, was the perfect role for Lee Marvin.  Enjoyed the conversation yesterday, and I had forgotten about the "paper train wheels" thanks for the reminder.  We had a couple of those at Knott's.  BTW I think you should post the photo of the Amish cattle drive here.

Making progress with the El Camino!  I believe its going to be on the road again!  It is in the shop, and at this point was right in the window of what I thought it would cost to get repaired.  Fortunately very little frame damage, tip! of right side bent.  The shop specializes in classic cars, and is really nice looking, with lots of in process examples to view, and great referances.  (The parts supplier I have used, gave me the shop's information.)  So I optimistic it will all go well.

Need to go to eye clinic today, and then "putts" around here this afternoon.

Banks, sounds like you had a pretty good trip!

Roy, Would you believe that the OPG parts group in Seal Beach, (who referred me to the repair shop), sent me a 15% off coupon for parts, the SAME day I was checking the shop out!  And the repair shop uses them as their primary supplier!  And OPG is going to honor the discount!

Well take care all!  And have a great day!  Just watch out for the trees!!!

Fifedog.... I believe the WM needs an Emperor of the North weekend extravaganza. As to you playing the part of Shack, if we hire a professional from Holywood and with a lot of make-up it should work.

Mornin' boys.  Warm and muggy in the Potomac Highlands.  Not sure what's on the agenda, but it's usually go-go-go when oldest princess is here.

Yesterday, stopped by railyard after youngest dental appt.  Things are slowly moving forward on the steamer.  Chatted with the big boss for a few minutes.  Then we headed up to my folks' place, and the boy, youngest princess and I went fishing for several hours.  Pretty sure he caught 2 dozen bluegills, using diced up hotdogs.  Returned home to oldest princess, middle princess, and the curly-top.  We had pizza-pizza for din-din.  The youngest grandson moves through the house like TAZ!

Overcast, muggy, and 80's for the day. Big storms rolling across lower Mi, during the night missed us. I found about 1/4 inch of rain in my coffee can rain gauge. Except for our kids we have stayed home as much as possible. So I have no breaking news.

Welcome back,

Made it through 5 days of guy things up north. A mixed bag on the COVID thing, some places open others not. Left up to the owners. Some have been using the free GOV hand out to remodel and got caught when the state opened before they thought it would. We did get the site done for Mark's new cabin so that worked out well. It will be a walk out basement in the side of a hill.

I got my test results from my blood draw and they say I have not been exposed to COVID? Or my antibodies are to low for the test to measure?  Tongue Tied

My one friend up there won't wear a mask but won't go out to eat so we cooked everything on the grill,,,WTH???? I gave him one of my new masks and I told him next time he sees an 91 year old man with his 87 year old wife looking scared as he!! of him as they are walking in the store to just PUT on A MASK. Confused

Rich, prayers for your mom! Angel

Don, OMG your car!  Bang Head

Some shots from there.

Morning.  97 and watering.  No rain even though guessers said rain.

Was out early delivering produce boxes.  Had to pickup a new trailer park.  Seems volunteers are going back to work or getting tired.  I did get more help.  When I got home, started watering garden after picking it.

Now doing Wifey garden beds.

Hope all are OK.  Enjoy the weekend.

Mornin' boys.  Damp, but clearing in the Potomac Highlands.  Yesterday was a mixed bag, but ended well when the curly top and I ran trains for a half hour, no pile-ups.  And that has to be a new record for the boy.  His "viewing platform" is Grandmom's fancy step ladder.

Roy - Only 1309 has funding for work, nothing else.  Buckeye may need a stunt double...

I'm checking in with sun and Hi 80's for today. So far my excitement for the morning is doing a load of laundry and turning the dishwasher on. No not that way. No plans for the day, we are doing our best to avoid the Chinese plague.

Morning.  94 and sunny.  Back to watering.  40% chance of scattered showers [mainly south].

Finally got Buckeye's birthday present in the mail.  Such a big box, USPS would not ship it by ground. ???  Think they are getting worse and worse.

Have a great week ahead.

Evening Fellas

Just a quick drive-in and out.

Been installing a tile floor in the basement powder room (we had it roughed in during the build), have to wait till Wednesday to grout. Hope to have the toilet and vanity in Friday. Then need to move on to finishing the stair rail on the steps to the new patio.

Fife - no worries. I'm still trying to find my way to Fifedom. My the grandpups have grown! Surprise

Buckeye - looks like some nice progress on the layout! Always fun seeing pics of your grandsons running the trains.

Gotta run...

Good Evening,

Well, I'm pretty happy here!  Was at the repair shop for the El Camino yesterday.  1st found out there is NOT any frame damage on the El Camino!  So was discussing the repair, and he asked what I wanted for the paint job.  Just the minimial damage area, OR the entire vehicle.  Said, my preferrance of course is the entire vehicle, but didn't think I could afford it.  He said as a result of no frame damge, (which was included in the estimate), he could paint the entire car for the original amount!  And, would I like the white competetion stripe put back on the hood?  I said sure!  So with that and the 15% coupon I got for the parts, I think I've been pretty lucky!!!!  I'm not even bothered that it most likely will take about 4 weeks.  The bad thing will be when I get it back, concern for the first dent, or getting in/out of our garage.

Had another eye exam/injection on Friday, the Dr said there has been significant improvement!  YEAH!!!  And, most likely will be having appointments spread out longer apart.

Kev, that sure is cool job you guys did.  Definetly looks like it would be fun!  Good Work!

Buckeye, Did you get the present the Chief sent yet?  Must be pretty big!

Dennis, I hope it works out well for you and the Del Sol!  Never give up on it.

Roy, You need to hurry up on the porch before it gets too hot!

Fife, "Curly Top", boy did I HATE that when I was a kid!  He might really take you seriously, be careful.  I know you mean well!!

Brent, Hope things don't get backed up, having to wait till Friday!  But I'm sure you will come up with an alternative.

Take care all and stay safe!

Oh Yeah, our Gov, has decided to shut down the bars again, in 9 counties!  Of course LA is one.  Hope people comply!

Sunny, hoomid....Cool

Got the last trim pieces fabbed and first coat of paint. I am making custom trim as I have a lot of wood that I need to use up. Hopefully will have this finished today. My neighbor loaned me a Bostich electric trim/pin nailer. It works great!

DonB - that is great news about the El Cam repairs! Can they put a tree avoidance dectector on it?

Don, If Buckeye's mailman, Oops  mailperson, shows up in a hazmat suit that will be a definite clue that Chief's package is there. Great news on the El Camino.

Fife & Buckeye, Cherish the time now because it will seem as though they will grow-up overnight.

Sunny, hoomid.... Cool  Same here Roy. You can keep it down there, please!

Good deal on the El Camino Don and a new paint job to boot! Yes

Need to cut some grass but you can't breath out there with the 90+ heat and 77% humidity. Dead Maybe later this evening if the rain don't come?

There were a lot of people upset with our Gov but at this point it was worth it. Death rate still droping and positive rate is at 3%. Seems this COVID-19 thing is anything but over!

Stay safe out there.

Had to drive through a toll booth on my trip north because they shut down the pay in cash lanes due to COVID. They tell you that you have 7 days to pay on-line. Been trying since I got home Friday and the states site is down for up-date. Should of went back on line this morning,,,NOPE!  Tomorrow will be 8 days, fine time. Bang Head  Angry

Got the Sunday off (caring for Mom), so grabbed Jenni and went to Howell so she could get her vape fluid. I figured we'd head to Sonic for lunch, 2 hours later, less $24 and no food, no service, nothing.  I blasted them on the survey, cancelled the transaction on my credit card.  They would not answer the phone, so Jenni blasted them on their web page.  I ordered on the app, they wouldn't even bring it to the car, there was no way to pick it up except wait in line.  No help at the ordering speaker.  We were not the only one's pi$$ed off.  Went to Stewart's near her house got what we wanted and it was hot.  Plus – root beer!!!

The M10000 has been delivered as well as the steamer.  Will go over to Jenni’s friend's house to fine tune it and add the side rod on the engineer side for the steamer.

Looked at my 1130 and found out this is a scarce/rare version, cast iron with silver lettering.  It needs an E unit, and I'll send it the Train Doctor in Tinton Falls and have him do it.  Too valuable to screw up now.  Had no idea and there is one on eBay for $200 and mine's in better shape.
Sunny Right now and in the 80s later - storms rolled through left a lot of rain and that's about it.
