Hi guys, I did not set a trap last night and there is no evidence of coon activity around the yard today. Will monitor the situation and decide what to do later.
Cut the grass this morning before it is to get to 90 so that is done for the week.
I think I will try to see the Big Boy. Doubt I can get the wife up that early. Laugh
Mike, I love Mid-Ohio. Used to go there for the bike races back in the day. 1970s
Roy the only good Qjets imho, are the early ones (1967) that had the manual secondaries. Like the one on my 67 GTO. All of them were hard to tune but it could be done. Worst part was the butterfly rods would wear out the base and suck air. Junk at that point.

Spanky, you be careful in that attic with the heat, man!

My advice, when you do  go up there wear a white 100%  cotton t-shirt.  It'll absorb sweat faster, hold it well, and keep you cooler.  Drink PLENTY of water too.

I cut the grass here last week (temps in the 90's) and did the white t-shirt thing, plus wore a hat, and drank at least two quarts of water.  Took frequent breathers too.  Got through it OK.

You be careful!

V8Vega

Smiletemps in the 90's thats nothing.

Yeah, depends on your point of view, I suppose.

I don't know what it's like out there in Californy, but here on the East Coast throw in humidity with the high temps and it gets brutal!

Actually, I was in California 43 years ago, Marine Base 29 Palms to be exact.  Mid-May the temps started to hit 100 degrees at noon, but it was a dry heat, being in the desert.  It wasn't too bad once you got used to it.

Morning/afternoon folks!

Temps goin up to normal mid90's today, along with hoomidity...only been a couple years in the past 120 that we may have a July with 1, 2, or no 100 degree days. Looks like there will be a repeat this year. It may approach 99 Wed. That may be our  only day this July to possibly hit 100.

Did not do anything I planned yesterday, spending the day reading the papers and watching tv. Needed a break.

Kev - and add the leaking secondary wells....

DJ - good progress on the attic!

Going over to the daughter's old apt this afternoon to assist them with final cleanup/move of the last items.

Regards, Roy

Happy Monday.....

Roy, Just a personal observation, those Q-Jest were JUNK out da box and when Chrysler started putting them on, most of us Mopar guys tossed them for a decent Holley.  Would rather have a Thermoquad than a Q-Jet any time.......

Was a decent weekend, spent time with my family on Saturday in Hightstown and Jenni's family in Manahawkin on Sunday.  Sunday was pool and hot tub time......did not arrive home until midnight.  And an early morning at 0545.

Already have work to do which is nice.  Hope to keep busy most of the day.

Softball Playoffs start tonight, I'm hoping the hot tub loosened me up on my legs, need to kick it up a notch.  Need to get on a hitting streak as well.....I'm hoping to hit 'em where they ain't!!

Sunny and up to 92F today.  No rain until Friday hoping it's clear on Saturday - Classic Drive In Car Cruise!!!

MikeC - Congas on the WIN

Phish and Banks: Prayers for the Mrs. and the Daughter....

Off to work, much to do.....check back later!!

Aloha. Grey and humid. Kev, did you go see the Big Boy? I drove down there yesterday with my youngest. It sure was... big. I would like to see if I can chase it for a bit Tuesday morning when it leaves for Iowa.

I don't know how many of you folks have seen a Big Boy "Up close and personal."  I've never seen a "live" one but did see one at a rail musuem in Dallas TX 20+ years ago.

Photos don't do it justice, the size of the thing will literally take your breath away.  An "iron mountain" is the best description I can give.

Same thing with a C&O 2-6-6-6 "Allegheny."  Has to be seen to be believed.

Not yet Doug, We are going to try to see it tomorrow at the Rochelle Railroad Park around 9:45 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Chase it out there and maybe we can hook up for Brunch. If you want, PM me your cell #

Evening folks!

Pretty warm today but lotsa clouds kept the temps below 90!  Yeah

Anj - you got that right. Dennis is also correct that a functional Qjet can be very economical, but 'not leaking' is the watchword....

DougM - glad you made to see the BB! Hope Kev made it also!

Finished up last move and cleanup for daughters apt. Glad that's over!

Good Evening from beautiful 81°F Southern Ohio,

Over the weekend we got the grass all cut and cleaned out from the base taking to bare ground around several trees in the area I recovered over the past couple of years.  After the next cut we should be to just weed eating around the trees.

I went to check out the pressure washer and the valves in the pump are bad.  Amazon came through with a replacement lower end.  We’ll see how it does.  I want to get the house cleaned and dry in preparation for stain later this summer.

Today is our wedding anniversary; we’ve been married for 41 years.  My bride made some fantastic venison loin steaks and an oatmeal cake for dessert.

Flint – I forget where we saw a Big Boy, but it is HUGE.  It reminds me of driving out west looking at the mountains in the distance and as you get closer it just keeps getting bigger.

Good night and may God bless you and your families

Jim

Good evening all,

Back from Mid-Ohio.  Nice long day at track.  Saw the Lights race as well as the main event.  Foyt team did what I expected...not well.  Larege crowd.  For once no drama on any of the trips.  Stur-fish, congrats on 41.  Will join you in November.  Thanks for all the congrats.  Still brings a smile to my face.  Gott CTT today.  Looks like a good issue.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good Morning.....

Softball Playoffs - Big loser 16-3, 1-3, single and fielder's choice.  Next game tomorrow.  Played Left Center.

Nice pics, DougM!
I LOVED my Carter Thermoquad!  Woke up my 360 Demon, best carb I ever had.....miss that car as well.....
Phish - Congas on 41 years!!

DJ - Saw Spiderman a couple of weeks ago, it was entertaining....

92 today, end of month looms.  After a big cluster f*ck yesterday, hope to get the Jetta issue done and to bed.  I'll never buy a car from a dealer again...what a mf'n disaster.....
Also need to get my china closet from a sale, got it for a $1.38, it's a Hayden from NY State made of Cherry, supposed to be a high line deal.  There were no bids and we bid $2 and we were high bid at minimum $1 plus tax and 15% sellers fee.  So that's tonight agenda.

Back to work, have 4 on my plate and more to come...............

Sturgeon-Phish, congratulations to you and your wife on 41 years!

Lady Firestorm and I hit 42 this last February.  We confounded all the nay-sayers who thought we'd have killed each other by now!

I see you're getting ready to wash the house prior to staining?  Have you tried a product called "Mold Armor?"  Lowes carrys it, and I used it to wash the house two weeks ago.  Took five jugs (about $9 and change each) and it worked great on the vinyl siding we have.  It's supposed to be safe for all sidings.  I washed some white painted wood in the covered portion of the deck and it looks good too.  Easy to use, just hook it up to a garden hose.

The $50 or so I spent was a helluva lot cheaper than paying someone $250 for a power wash!

Thanks for the vids KRM!

I was watching the Rochelle WebCam earlier today, saw the UP "monster freight" and the BSNF "pumpkins" on their trains, but got tired of waiting for the "B-B."  Plus I had other things to do.

I guess it was a lot more fun to be there!

Kev - glad you got to see the BB up close!

Big news - my o ring fix works and got the El Cam running! Drove it up and down the block. Next steps are to prep for inspection.

Hit 100 today. Might do the same tomorrow. So 2 100 days for July. Last year by this point we had 21 days over 100.

My post back fired so I will try again.  Since I am using o2 24/7 now, I had to figure out a way to shower with it.  My son installed a hand held shower head and stool to sit on in the tub.  Works out good.  Got a new part time care giver this week.  Will have to avail my self of some their services.  Have a good week all,  Ray

Mornin' boys.  A quick fly-by, as both grandson's are with us this week, and man is it noisy.  I've even had diaper doo-dee.  Woof.

I was advised that I will be called back to RR mid-Septmenber...we'll see.  No update on 1309, however local media reports are not promissing, at least for this season.

My condolances to you and your family Spanky.

Losing a beloved pet isn't easy, I know.  We're on our eigth Basset Hound now, she's a doll, but we still miss our first seven.  The hurt eventually goes away even if the sense of loss doesn't.

I'm sure you've done so, but tell Corey it's not his fault.  These things do happen.

Good evening all,

Complicated day at work.  System down for a while but managed to get most of the work done.  Weather finally cooler.  Quiet night at home.  I hope everyone has a good day.
