Good to know that stuff I told you about Brent worked for you.As for Hydraulic cement, that can be a waste of time depending on what your trying to do.

Got my own Christmas gift on new years day at Menards, I am easy! I love the paint on it. I am a big fan of BNSF to.

Good evening all,

Work was busy.  New system causing more headaches than it should, but after 40 years I should know better.  Kitchen remodel finally done at work so I can wash dishes after lunch again properly.  Lucas doing better so wife coming home tomorrow.  On the road Saturday but hope to finally stop at Mr. Muffin's train place.  Weather was sunny but brisk today.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Hello there,

spent today putzing around doing what I can without lifting more than 10 lbs. Yesterday watched Bob Hope in the Lemon Drop Kid.

Phish.......congas on the deer. Son and I each got a doe and he got a buck. My nephew got 2 doe at son's place. One with bow and one with rifle. Flintlock season runs to the 12th. I won't get out but hopefully a couple more.

Considering a trip to the Greenberg show in Monroeville this weekend. Was disappointed last couple of times but it'll be a good distraction.

88..........4 to 6 weeks from permit to move in? That's great.  Been watching them building houses near me for years. They average 4 to 6 months. That always boggled my mind because we did big box stores from footers to possession in that much time.

Roy.......sounds like you got the plumbing and moving done just in time.

Best try to sleep.

Prayers for those in need

Good morning all.

First week back after a long holiday stinks.  LOL!  Got some work to do on a few passenger cars.  Might start that project Sunday.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

V8 I was out in LA doing the World Cup when OJ was in the Bronco.  Never a dull moment in this world.

Morning all, Still going thru things here at the new house to us. I'm thinking even if I get the garage closed off and heat/air to it done, I'm probably still going to need a dehunidifier.

Been and still is a slow job going thru keep and what is going to be in the hugh yard sale, come March or April. I hope I have enough tables built to handle it all lol.

Waiting for wifey to get ready as I have a DR. appointment at 10 a.m. here in Aiken, and then a eye exam at the main V.A. medical center at 3 P.M. which is about 45+ minutes away.

Thats about it for today, Talk to you all later.

Morning folks!

Started at a gray 39 and now the sun is out. 56 today!

Well spent the day yesterday cleaning up my 2018 files and starting my 2019 files. Loaded a copy of Office 2007 onto the new PC. Loaded a copy of Outlook 2016 onto the PC and set up the email account and folders for 2019. This took all day, but was it necessary. Back to the cleanup!

Morning All,

Looks to be a balmy 40 degree January forecast and sunny! Almost forgot what it looked like.....

Brent - Thanks for the info! Yes, I like that the idea of that high compression sealant.

Kev - I have my eye on that BNSF hopper as well. I wish the 1:1 version looked that sharp! Are you still passing on the Lionel BNSF Tier 4? That hopper would look sharp with that set.

MikeC - New work systems are always "fun".

Marty - With all of noise around the issues with the scale PE cars, you might have few more to service!

Dennis - Always something, isn't there?

Roy - Liking the linguistic repertoire!

Have a good one and prayers,

Rob

Raining.  Suppsoe to stop tomorrow AM for over a week.  We'll see.

Dennis, here the new media would be taking up for the poor driver who was mistreated by PD.  Unbelievable.

Have a good one.

DJSpanky

Mornin' all!

Got an engine question for everyone. We have a Christmas docksider which stopped working 2 Christmases ago. I tried it out this year and still doesn't go anywhere. Was looking at it, and something really jumped out at me. On one side, the drive rods are at the bottom of the wheels. On the other side, they're at the top. Somehow they've gotten out of sync, which completely explains why it doesn't run. Is that something I could fix? i.e., take it apart and realign the wheels? I have no idea how something like that could happen, but it makes perfect sense as to why it won't go. Appreciate the input.

DJ, The drive rods at the bottom of the wheels on one side and on the other side, they're at the top makes no difference. One side does not know what the other side is doing. As long as they line up with the connecting rod that attaches to the three wheels on the same side you should be good.
Both my Docksides are like that and work fine. I have had issue with the electronic e-unit burning out and then not running. I have replaced two in my oldest and one smoke unit. BTW it is a suckey job to work on them there little things.
Rob, I am waiting on the Tier 4 till they get in, then I will decide. I think the full scale Menards box and Hopper cars may look to large behing that engine.

While I would not question some of the issues folks are having. the bearing caps IMO are an annoyance more than a problem.  They for the most part go right back in.  The other issues folks are having should be addressed by Lionel and they definitely need to do some work on the QC and manufacter.  My cars had a handful of caps off and I had an observation car with a marker light out that the dealer replaced. The Polars have been put away intact for now.

I have a few other cars to tinker with now.

Happy New Year all,

Chief, the gas out here was 2.99 for regular this morning at one of the cheaper stations.

Tore the house apart yesterday looking for the pink slip on my old 87 Buick.  Finally found it this morning right where it was suppose to be.  I'm losing it.  Will probably unload the car next week.  Needs too much work.

I was disappointed with the joining of the rails transcontinental railroad float in the Rose Parade.  I heard the smoke was coming from a bad transmission.  It was finally towed 2 l/2 miles to the display area after the parade was over.  It was the main thing I wanted to see in the parade.

Tried running my trains again today.  A lot of the engines need new rubber tires.  You can hear them spinning when they start.  Also need to lube the axles and pick up rollers on a lot of passenger cars which are causing a lot of drag.

I just heard that the Cal Stewart fall train meet here is undergoing a lot of changes.  In the past we have met at large convention centers for two days of trading but with dwindling membership we can no longer afford those venues.  Next year they are going to have it for just one day and it will be held in the same hall where we have our monthly TTOS meets and will be a lot more affordable.  I hate to see it but it's best for survival of the club.  This meet at one time was billed as the largest train show West of the Mississippi River.  The times, they are changing.

Hello there,

should be sleeping but wide awake. Another day of taking it easy. Feeling almost back to normal .  One more day of nothing over 10 pounds then 4 weeks of no "heavy lifting". I have a feeling doc's definition of it will be different from mine.

.Bummer on Cal Stewart. Haven't been going to as many shows since I started going to York but dealers and attendance seem to be off.

Best try to sleep, heading to Greenberg show in the morning if the weather isn't to bad.

Prayers for those in need

Good evening all,

Work was very busy, but came up with an idea so I may finally be able to work at home most of the time.  Just have to move work inertia to make it happen.  Weather was good at noon for walk.  Rainy coming home.  Gas is 1.85 in Indy, still 2.25 at home.   Go figure.  Wife made it home after many traffic misadventures.  Watched Blue Bloods.  Good episode.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Has anyone else been having delivery problems with their magazines? Boy, I have! It started with the Oct issue Ctt - called and reported - three weeks later I got a totally unreadable copy that looked like it went through a serious flood - called again - about three weeks later I received a copy of wrong month - called again - about three weeks (total of two months) I got my correct copy.  Hurray. Next I didn't receive my Christmas special issue - called again - about three weeks later I got it. Now I failed to get Feb issue - called again - told 10 - 15 days. First three times talked to "customer sevice" in Florida. This time I talked to Texas. Last thing, today in the mail I received another copy of the Christmas special. What the --- and why can I not talk to someone at the magazine.

Sorry for the rant but this is really five episodes with my magazines.     Wayne

Evening team!

Gorgeous day here today! Sunny, 60 Cool Same for tomorrow!

Continued work on cleanup, focus on the 'new' office and clearing out some lingering train projects that were in various boxes. Due to the move from one room to another I decided I would clear these "projects" out. So far have repaired a Lionel Hobby Shop (new motor), a Lionel Pirate Boat Swing Ride (new motor & repairs to the mechanism), and 20 Lionel Highway light poles/street lights (new bulbs and base repairs) that were converted to work on a miniature phone plug so they can easily be installed/uninstalled for setup/tear down. All this stuff came from the Ronald McDonald House and Grand Central Terminal display layouts. I have a couple of DC converted locos to work on from the RMDH.

Also got Christmas deconstructed and packed this afternoon. Need to take the single string of outside lights down from the eaves, but it is too muddy - ladder would just sink into the ground. Hopefully with another nice day tomorrow the ground will firm up.

Dennis/Ray - too bad about Cal-Stewart meet changes. Kinda goes with the times.

MikeC - we also enjoyed Blue Bloods last night. Good show with 3 story lines.

Regards, Roy

We got back to our 'primary location' a couple of days ago.  Now to start on the projects here to get the place ready to sell.

Beautiful clear, sunny January day here today.  The unusual thing is that the temperature got up to 60 degrees.

Today was kickoff day for the robotics team build season.  FIRST Robotics released the 2019 game details and rules this morning.  The team is going to spend a couple of days developing a play strategy so they can define the design goals for the robot.

On the train front, one of the items I had on back order at Charles Ro has shipped.  Supposed to get here mid week.  We'll see what it is when it gets here.

All for now.

Cooling off a bit here in Western PA. Getting lots of PW repairs in at the shop lately. I guess Christmas brings them out.

Mike C divorce is not easy ever. I can attest but it gets better.

Everyone have a great day.

Hello there, Mike C Angel

Been a lazy day so far. Watching the PA Farm Show on PCN. Today is Epiphany so last night for outdoor lights. Start removing them tomorrow weather permitting.

Went to Monroeville yesterday. A bit cloudy when i left, ran into forg, rain and heavy rain as I went west. Then sunny about 15 minutes from the show and all the way home, The show was better than expected. Parking was relieved by a couple of adjacent stores closing making previously off limits parking available. There was a lot of open area in the show and way more non train stuff than before but still a pretty fair assortment of vintage trains. The place was packed. Had to wait in line to get to several tables I was interested in. Picked up a couple of small details, a Mantua car and a metal lithoed Marx tunnel. I did notice a larger than usual number of young couples with children at the show.

Afterwards Mrs and I enjoyed dinner at Golden Corral on the way home. Got back just in time to head 430 Mass and reclinerize for the evening.

Best go see about dinner.

Prayers for those in need

Bonjour les amateurs de chemin de fer!

A bright start to the day! High 60's on tap again! Cool

Will try to get the last of the Christmas decorations down today - just the string of lights across the front of the house. Depends on the ground supporting the ladder. Also continued work on the house cleanup project. Looking for new year carpet sales.

Banks - glad the show yesterday was a good one and worth the trip!

8n - I mentored our local HS FIRST team for several years. Made it to nationals one year. I built the practice game field each year. I really enjoyed it until the school & district management changed the way the team was supported - turned the program into a complete mess by moving it to inexperienced teachers in the STEM program (just because they were STEM - and no plan for transition despite attempts to do so) and I dropped out as did the most experienced lead teacher and several students.

Regards, Roy

MikeC Angel for the boy. Like Marty said "it gets better" and if he is like me he will be able to say he has had the best years of three women's lives,, Wink Just tell him he is lucky to figure it out when he is young and they can't take that much. My brother did it after 40 years,,,Ouch!

Weather yesterday was mid 50s not bad for Jan 5th on The North Bluff.

Been fluffing and buffing my 44 year old Triumph motocycle. She still looks good after all these years.

Thinking about getting a Lionel LionChief plus engine to see how the constant speed control works to maintain a steady speed at a crawl or full speed and everything in between regardless of track conditions or load?? Huh?

Best get!

Cloudy warm dasy here.

Roy - the team here started in 2013.  This will be my fourth season with them.  They have been to the nationals every year but one.

My wife has a doctor appointment next week.  Got to go to a specialist in Kansas City, so we are building our activities around that.  Hope to get to Union Station there to see the Lionel layout.

Good evening all,

Thank you all for the support.  I will pass it on to Lucas.  Worked on the layout for the first time in a while.  Wired up two isolated sections so I can park one engine while running the other.  Did not think I would have to do that with these small layouts but it is nice.  Scored 3 cars that light up with holiday themes at Mr. Muffins Saturday.  Nice place.  Will have to go there again when we have more time.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Evening Fellas

WOW where the last 3 days rough! Last week (Thursday, Friday, 1/2 day Saturday) and this week (1/2 day Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) my father and I have spread over 200lbs of hydralic cement, used 5 tubes of the epoxy, replaced a double bowl utility sink, replaced a ceiling pull string fixture, replaced a dryer vent and dryer exhaust hose, and probably 5 other small projects that I can't remember now... in all over 50 hours of work on the basement. Today I had to rebuild 4 feet of corner on a chimney base with the hydralic cement... OH... mom has painted 4 8'x30' walls between Friday and today. Mom and Dad will be going back this week to finish the painting. We upgraded 3 60 watt bulbs to 100s and installed a new 100W bulb in the new ceiling fixture. Basement is so bright now with just the lights on you almost have to wear sunglasses! When we were leaving today I told my dad to turn the lights off, but they already were - the 4 small windows were all the light source needed to make the basement bright with the fresh white walls. No water in the basement at all. Time to update the seller disclosure tomorrow, drop the price a bit, and hope for a sale!

MikeC - as the others have said my divorce to soul sucker #1 was one of the best things I ever did! If not for that divorce I would have never met TheVPQ, adopted Christina and Matthew, and would not be on the verg of building our dream home. Life throws us curve balls all the time. It is how we concentrate, look for the seams, steady the bat, and drive a deep one into the center field gap for a triple that make us who we are. With you and your wife's support Lucas will come out of this for the better. Guide him, support him, and lead him with God.
