Home from spending the day with the kids. Some very lite snow falling here in the Detroit area this evening so I guess we can say there was snow for Christmas.

Good evening all,

Again, Merry Christmas to all!  It was a good day.  The weather was good, the food was fine, and the company quite pleasant.  All the grandkids enjoyed what we got them and that makes the day nice.  I ran the trains for them and the oldest nephew enjoyed more than anyone.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Hello there,

Sturgeon-Phish?????? That name seems familiar........

had a wonderful Christmas. Had lunch with Mom. She's doing well but has a cold. Would've loved to bring her to the festivities but staff discouraged it. We'd have a hard time getting her back. Dinner at  daughters with all of us and 4 of her in laws.

Now relaxing with a glass of wine before bed.

Prayers for those in need.

Mornin' boys.  Sunny and 27 along the Patterson Creek Cut-off.  Going to spend the day in the train room, hooking up my new Lionel Gold Medal milk platform, and new Lemax houses.  I have several semaphores spaced around the layout that need to be hooked up, as does the old Lionel cattle pen.

My folk came over for dinner yesterday, as did the newlyweds.  I surprised my mom by wearing the Jolly suit as they pulled up the driveway (she had only seen pictures).  She was overcome and started crying, then she got a picture on Santa's lap.  My folks brought the "roast beast", and Ms Kelly made the "who hash".  I think I consumed more food than at Thanksgiving!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas.

I hope Phish can stay around longer...or maybe it's not Phish...Alien

Morning All!

I truly hope each and every one of you (and your family) had a fantastic Christmas!! (It's nice to be able to still use the "C" word........)

Slowly coming out of the turkey coma. We didn't even host Christmas, but our house looks like Hurricane Rudolph went through it. Ugh....

Not too much on the go today. A couple of stops that were missed over the last few days to say hi and a quick glass or two of "cheer" and tidy up a bit.

Have a good one and prayers.

Rob

Good morning all, had a nice Christmas get together with my kids yesterday.  Missed the trash man this morning so will have to live with it for another week unless I want to pull an Arlo Guthrie and look for a place to dump it and then get caught by officer Obie.  I always get fooled by the holidays.  I even went out last night to see if anybody else had their trash out and didn't see any.  They must have put it out at dawn this morning.  Hope Santa was good to everyone.  I got something that looks like a dachshound that you put in front of the crack under the door to keep the cold air out.  No train stuff this year.  I don't need it.  Have a Happy New Year.

Nice to hear you all had a good Christmas!!! We did to!! ]

Christmas Eve at our house with son Russell and Tiff's half of the grand-kids.

Christmas day at daughter Katherine and Dan's house was a house full of the sounds and action of life. Kids, laughing, running, jumping, getting gifts and all the other great chaos that comes from a house full of kids at Christmas!! And not to forget,,,food!!
It reminded me of the days of all of us cousins getting together when we were all small back at the Webb farm on 135th street in Plainfield.

Be greatful!

Been trying to log in for 3 weeks and tonight finally was able to. A Christmas miracle. LOL. Hope everyone had a great day yesterday. Santa was good to me. My Polar coaches came in Friday. Besides the bearing caps they seem fine. The bearing caps are all going back on fine.

Sounds like you got lucky to a certain extent. The guys on the other site are complaining of bearing caps, scratches and scrapes and broken parts.

Merry 2 days past Christmas......

Had a visit from 2 of my other brothers at Mom and Dad's house, 1 left before I had come home (somebody has to work...).

Christmas was great, house full for sure.  Just great to have most of the family here.

Viewing tonight for one of our members, it was sudden as he was at the FD not but a week and a half ago.

Trip to Delaware is on tap for Sunday, supposed to be 65F and clearing.  The roadrunner will like that if the weather holds.

Back to work, I'll check back later.  Slow but steady week.  Christmas Eve I did......2 in 8.5 hours....it was a waste of time.

Mornin' boys.

Well, couldn't get the milk platform installed, since I don't have a remote-control track (6-65530).  I thought I had one in the old track box.  Did do some scenery, carving foam in the back corner, and also replaced a traction tire on a General.

Need to take youngest princess for an eye exam later.

Morning/afternoon all!

Sunny and 50's. We got over 3" of rain in about 4 hrs last night. Heavy thunder and lightning for over 6 hrs. Nighttime freezing temps ahead.

Sister and BIL just departed on their way back to Houston. Driving the long/scenic way via Waco. We had a great time during their visit!

MikeC - we are planning to see Vice. Thanks for the heads up!

Banks - prayers for a successful outcome today Angel

Evening all. Well the new HVAC system going to run $4600. But it's going to be a lot more efficient than what was in here. You have to consider my present unit was installed in 1989, so basically 29 - 30 years old.

Fife here at our new house the Driveway goes from one street to another. Where it lets out at, is right at the boundary between us and a elementary school, and we have a jr high across the street. Anyway the local law enforcement has asked to use our drive way to run radar. Of coarse we gave approval. :)

Good evening all,

Good day.  Went to see Aquaman tonight.  Two thumbs up!   DC may be on the right track with Aquaman and Wonder Woman.  Need to forget those other characters.  Had pizza with two of my younger relatives, one of whom was my "teammate" in soccer a couple of times.     They came over and saw the trains as well.  They were impressed.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Hello there, from Rm 326D at UPMC Bedford Memorial.

Thanks for your support

According to Mrs my Doc said after surgery everything went well, his PA said the same thing when she removed my catheter. That was removed at 750.

I remember very little between preop an arriving in my room. Spent a miserable night with a constant urge to pee like he!! from pressure of my bladder being flushed via catheter. As long as I can go normally with little  blood I'll get out of here by early afternoon.

Pickup rented so son and I can move his bed and a few other large items to the house today.

Recovering from the family events over Christmas. Tired, and the Ms appears to be coming down with something. Ugh.

Typical Michigan day here.  Was 50 degrees at 7:00 when I took the dog out, is currently in the high 20's.  During the day, we had clouds, a little sunshine, rain, sleet, and some snow.

Our oldest son and his wife are visiting us tomorrow.  Crab legs and spaghetti are on the menu.  We've been working on spaghetti sauce, and meatballs this evening getting ready for dinner tomorrow.

Of course the old faithful crock pot we got at our wedding 40 years ago decided to give up the ghost today, so out to the store to get a replacement.  While we were at the store, we also picked up a propane fired turkey frier so we can boil the crab legs outside.

I found my mom's recipe for shortbread cookies recently.  Those were one of my favorite cookies she would make during Christmas season.  I tried it out today, and the resulting shortbreads turned out to be almost as good as mom's.

Got the check engine light fixed on the minivan.  Just took a trip to the dealer and $350 for a cooling system flush and a new thermostat.  At least I didn't have to figure out how to get rid of the old antifreeze.

About all for now.

RT...I can not believe the home warrenty did not pay. Are the home inspectors liscensed in your state?

Morning all!

Very gray & cloudy here. Mid-30's and a high of 40 today. The big cold front was stronger than expected and now the forecast for the next week is 40's.

Got the son's major stuff moved yesterday using the rental pickup and the Tahoe. Got a lot of boxes stuffed around, but his furniture is all in place. Cannot unpack too much as a lot of it has to move to recarpet. Hoping for some carpet sales for the new year.

Buckeye - home warranties are a complete ripoff. The seller adds it, but as RT and I have experienced - if you think about it, EVERYTHING that occurs is 'pre-existing' so they never pay.

Home inspectors are not much different - they do not open anything up - only check that it works at the time - and they are not liable for anything if you read the contract. Home inspectors are a scam in concert with the mortgage companies - inspection is required to get the mortgage.

Roy....I have seen the home warrenty rip off, but then again I have seen them pay. As to home inspections, I agree they are the biggest rip off. If an inspector finds for example a structural defect, they will instruct you to hire a structural engineer (me) to check out the problem. Too much legal risk with greedy lawyers for too little reward, less than $500, for me to sign on the dotted line.

Good Morning,

For those of you that may have Facebook accounts, I have deleted (deactivated, closed) mine I think.  I've gotten a couple of calls asking if I opened another Facebook page, a few emails.  Then this morning I got a friend request from ME !!  (I had 12 mutual friends !??).  So anyway I zapped it.

Banks, hope the recovery is going well.

RT, Boy you have a lot of trains, maybe you should keep the other house and open it as a museum.

HOPE EVERYONE HAS A HAPPY NEW YEAR and BE SAFE!!!
