HAPPY EASTER
Been a long week. Spent Wednesday evening in the ER with mom. Got home about 130 AM. She's dehydrated again. Got back to the home Thursday evening.
Frying Fish and church services shot the rest of the week. We served 5214 people over the 7 Friday's for an average of 744. It gets kinda hectic sometimes but it's a big fundraiser for our school.
The daughter hosted the family for Easter last evening. Ham and an egg hunt was enjoyed by all.
Mrs & I went to 7AM mass going to join Mom for lunch at the home later.
Buckeye,.... welcome to the retired life. Hope it's long and happy.

Aloha and 'hoppy' Easter! Cloudy and cold here too. Coldest Easter in years. The ladies insist it is spring and they dress accordingly. I do not as it is only 24 degrees.
I thought of Buckeye and his replacement every time we crossed a bridge or went through a tunnel on the 1,400 miles of interstates we just finished driving on our journey east and back. I'll be standing by the track waving as his train rolls through Chicago in a few months.
Rob, we had a Dodge Caravan - the extended one - when our kids were little. We put a zillion miles on it and used it go everywhere and carry everything.

I was feeling really down when I heard the weather forcastor say it was to snow tonight and the roads would be slippery during rush hour. Then I realized I'm retired and will not be driving in the slush tomorrow.

Evening all!Happy Easter!Long day today. Started with church and then ran home to get ready for the family to come over. Fired up the grill and cooked up lotsa pounds of brats, dawgs, and chicken. Nieces brought sides, cakes and a chocolate pie. Our adult children hid Easter eggs for the nieces young ones and the young ones went on the offensive with confetti eggs. Confetti egg battle ended up in the front yard and street. Colored egg shells and confetti everywhere - gave me an idea of how to decorate for Christmas! Kids created a baseball game using a tennis ball, a T ball bat and incorporating the swimming pool as a moat between the pitcher and home plate. That was interesting/fun. Everyone left about 5 - whew - but a good day!Buckeye -

Long day as well. Went to 9 AM Mass. Drove to sister's for lunch. Drove one daughter to other duaghter's house so somebody else could take her the rest of the way home. Gave the grandkids their Easter stuff. Made it home before the snow hit. I hope everyone has a good day.

Two inches of snow overnight and I was not out driving in the slick slush on the I-270 race track.
Years ago I was in LA and I was asked how I liked driving the LA freeways. I looked at them and said, "Piece of cake. Try driving the Chicago's Dan Ryan or Kennedy during a heavy snow storm with a slick roadway."

I believe if you use over 10 squares a day it is considered a felony and you are sent some place named Pelican Bay State Prison. Sounds like a nice place to me.
As to the weather if was only a high of 79 degrees in Roseyville today and I see some 30 degree days in your future.

After the last of Sunday services my bride’s family came to our place for dinner. Mary smoked a ham and had made corned beef, both were excellent. Everybody was gone by 6 pm. Watched the NCAA women’s game; what a final shot!!!
I think the flu bug is on the way out, good because I’m on night shift this month (bleh), so I slept in till 8 am, took care of critters and burned some more brush. The bucks who frequent our yard have shed their antlers, so I’ll go over to their bedding area and see if I can find some sheds over the next few days.

Kev – I saw that price for the mulch at RK; I’m going to head that way Friday after work. I may look at a different handgun for CC while I’m there. So many options!
I think one of the reasons the insurance is so high so we won’t take care of ourselves and die off before we drain it!

Normally the first of the month I am busier than the proverbial physically challenged interior decorator, but today the crickets were chirping. Tuesdays are busy and the weather will be warmer and wetter. Wife took van to shop today to have them generate a quote. Verdict is still out on whether to keep it or not. Still up in the air. Hmmm.... Indiana may not do well with men's college basketball, but Notre Dame won the NCAA and IU the NIT on the ladies' side so there is that to consider (and the Chief cannot make any un American sport comment about that.....). I hope everyone has a good day.

Everything is OK here, been spending a LOT of time assisting the situation with in-laws.
Kays mom is 86, and last year fell broke her pelvis, which was really tough on her. She was helping FIL after a fall, and she ended up falling. Both ended up in the hospital, 2 different ones. Move the clock ahead a year, and currently she hardly gets around with a rollater. Kay had to go and help her up last Wed at 3 am, when she fell.
Kays dad is 91, and is constantly falling. Currently he is in the hospital been there since Sat night. We were there with him until 1 am Easter. They have suspicion he may have had a stroke 2 weeks ago. His left side is really impared. Waiting to see what develops, he may not make it.
Overall this situation has been going on for awhile, they BOTH insist on staying at home. We have brought in aides for them, they last maybe 2 or 3 days, then are fired. Its really tough when you have to fight with both of them. I really got on their case this past weekend that we can't keep going like this, its bad for everyone. Let alone being extremely dangerous for them. No way could they get out of the house in case of emergency, or when either falls the other doesn't have much chance of getting to a phone. I THINK something will get resolved this week. The VA wants him to have some Phy Therapy, and if necessary have him live in patient quarters on campus. That would be a blessing. The VA is sending a social worker coming out to the house tomorrow for a "accessibility and safety" determination. When they see her condition we may get some help. We are going to see what AARP says, they may have a suggestion or two. The bad part is no matter how much we try we can't get past the issue of them being alone. Damn they are stubborn. Kay has been running all day between the VA hosp and their home, she is too frail to go to the hospital to see him.
On the bright side! Chris came home on Good Friday, he and I went to the San Gabriel mtns, for off roading. (Near Ray's place.) Kay had a good day as well her friend had taken her to a "Tea" for birthday celebration. Then things fell apart on Saturday.
Chief, you did get me on the target tax! However it didn't seem totally unreasonable given mind set of the polliticans here.
Buckeye, Looking forward to your visit! Got some ideas for a Harbor area tour, layout viewing, lunch, and who knows what else. Some of the guys that have visited here enjoyed seeing the "Emergency 51" firestation. (2 newphew firefighters have worked out of that station, its located at the harbor area.) I'm sure time will be the issue.
Didn't mean to whine, just difficult times, and I'm sure it will all work out, just trying to support Kay every way I can. I don't know where she finds all the stamina and strength.

Lets's face it boys, here in Commufornia they will find every means possible to to make it extremely difficult to remain here. Middle class is becoming an endangered species here.
Had a crazy week last week. Went in to see my primary care provider, yearly physical. After the nurse almost fainted when she took my blood pressure, three times, thr Dr gave me a pretty thorough exam and asked the BetterHalf and I to stay in the exam room for awhile. She initiated a conference call with my oncologist and cardiologist, the only one left out was my nephrologist. The result was three of my meds have been temporarily discontinued and my cardiologist called with an appointment for tomorrow. I guess passing out a few times with a 71/42 BP got their attention. I was so conditioned to really low BP that it really didn't seem that bad. We'll see what this does.
Easter was great, didn't have near as many as normal but in some ways that was better. A little less hectic.

Still chipping away at the styrofoam scenery. Broke out the Premier SD40-2, and tried running it through the canyon. As it snaked it's way along, the big diesel became the bull in the china shop. Spent a half day carving new clearances with the hot wire thingiemabob.
Morning. 48 degrees and foggy. Suppose to burn off and go to 76. We'll see. Guessers keep guessing.

Mornin' FellasWell I can now post about it! TheQ was promoted to VP. She has been busting her rump to earn it and she has finally been recognized.Don - When I lived in Pittsburgh there was a community run by The Lutheran Church of America where you could buy a house and live in it, and as you aged they would send in nurses and caretakers to make sure you were OK, and if necessary they also had an appartment building where you were cared for 24/7. Spent many days there in Youth Group cleaning and tending to yards, doing basic home repairs, singing carols at Christmas, and many times just sitting a talking with the residents. Not sure if there is anything like that near where you live?We are starting to get concerned about TheQ's Dad. He is in his 80s now. He still drives and gets around, but we know the day is rapidly approaching where that won't be the case. With TheQ's promotion we are really trying to pay down the house in Pittsburgh so we can hopefully sell it this year, then we can start looking for land and a builder so we can get started on the new house. He has agreed to come live with us once it is ready... but we'll probably sell his house and have him move in with us during construction (that is our plan, most likely not his plan).Praying for Banks, DougNotta, and DonB.

Don, Wife's mom is 91 and getting real bad. There is a lady that comes to the MIL's three days a week to help with her. Not sure how it is paid for but I know SS did the evaluation to decide if she needed it. That helps out the BIL a lot but he is the main care giver. You can see the strain it has on the BIL but I have a hard time feeling to sorry for him as he has never had a job and has lived at home all his life. We don't know what we will have to do with him once the MIL is gone? life sure gets messy in the older days. We have been making meals for them and wife takes them over about every week. They are 40 miles from us so it is a trip to make.
If you can get some in home care that would be great fo Kay. Caregiving can be very hard on the care giver.

So firstly - Happy Belated Easter.
Secondly HAPPY APRIL!! Yes it snowed AGAIN yesterday and the ol' Sundance took a NASCAR type slide on the 3 lane slush/ice highway and so I'm in for a right front wheel bearing and a wheel. Joy!! AND, of course, it was the only place within 3 miles with curbage......Mom's 3.8L Mustang, the BRIGHT Orange one, is my current mode of transport. Parts on order and new to me OE "custom" wheels courtesy of my BIL are in the process. At least I'll have a space tire for the first time in a year or so.
Sorted out my Lemax "electrical" stuff, lights and connectors and light strings and such and they are now all organized and put away so I can find 'em. Found another cach of Atlas O track and then looked at what I have.....so much O-72 curves and O-27......and I need O-54 and O-32.....so I may be rethinking the Fastrack Layout to an Atlas one-----with used switches if I can find 'em.
Prayers to those in need, a lot of challenges here but I'm sure with prayers and guidedence, all will work on through.
