Good morning,

Recovery is a wonderful thing guys.  Big Smile

Cloudy, 31 and heading to 40. Not much going on here. Need to gas up the Colorado for the hoilday travels.

Spank, Hard to think it has already been five years since all Tyler and the family went through. What a blessing. They grow so fast and you find they were just a small spot in your life before they take on their own. Hard to think my son will be 39 and the daughter will be 30 this year with six kids of their own.

We used to send out over 60 Christmas cards every year, we are down to seven and each year we get less in return. Sad Must be the Facebook effect. SoapBox

Cloudy and mid 30s today. That's gonna sound warm come next week.

Yeah our card list is down to about 20 sadly many from our list no longer walk this earth. We went to a funeral last Friday and another on Monday. I actually bought something at the train show on Sunday, Some 1940s, 2430 cars(silver & blue metal)decent condition and finally at a fair price.

Hello there,

Christmas prep seems less hectic this year. Almost done. Bought less than ever and a lot of it online.

Mrs and I decided upon a trip to see the Oak Ridge Boys on St Pats day as our Christmas.

Talk of cutting wood makes me glad I put in a coal boiler. Way less work and still less than half the alternative.

Fife. ....still seems funny people coming here to shop. Growing up the place to go was the Monroeville Mall or Pittsburgh.

Best get back to the house husband duties.

Prayers for those in need

WOW Banks, There has not been Coal here since the early 60s. None.

When I was small we had a big old coal burner in the house and they converter it to NG in the late 50s. I liked to play in the coal pile. What a mess that was. Laugh

Have a good trip Dennis!

Kev - the old saying attributed to Dean Martin (or Frank Sinatra) comes to mind:

I feel sorry for people who don't drink. When they wake up in the morning, that's as good as they're going to feel all day...

Dennis - safe travels, Merry Christmas to you and your family! Hope you have a great time!

Banks - coal, cool!

Agree with you guys - loss of friends and the Facebook effect re cards...

dbaker - Actually, I do get "beard envy" when I see some fellow with a good set of white whiskers.  Is that strange...?

Fife,

Why in the world would you think that admiring a good set of white whiskers might be strange?  It takes a lot of life experience to achieve the symbol of wisdom.  Wink

I usually keep my beard very close cropped, but a few years ago I played Saint Nicholas for the children at our church.  I let my beard grow from August to December and walked into church looking like this:

Wishing all of you a Blessed Christmas.

Gonna try to make it tomorrow, Christmas trains loaded with goodies on the schedule tomorrow.Big Smile Not to mention I have a couple of extra large Pizza's preordered for lunch.

Merry Christmas Doug, good picture of you guys.

V8, I think you're right about the bullet train.  That grade you mentioned is the Cuesta grade North of San Luis Obispo.  I took a train ride on some private cars recently between L.A. and SLO round trip for a friend's retirement party.  Have a nice Christmas with your relatives.

Chief, saw a nice photo of you on FB at a ground breaking ceremony somewhere.

Went to foot doctor today.  Said I had a touch of atheletes foot. Called in a prescription for me and I was floored by the price.  $92 because I am presently in the donut hole.  I told them to hold it until January 2, and my medicare part
D starts over then.  I can probably find something over the counter cheaper than that.

Merry Christmas to all,

Ray

Good evening all,

Relatively quiet day at work.  Good day for walking outside.  Hooked up some lights on layout.  Got some Christmas cars we ordered.  I got a MTH Lionel Tinplate reefer and wife wanted a Christmas tree car that lit up.  Both are impressive.  Wife and I watched "Ernest Saves Christmas" tonight.  Always enjoyable.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Northwoods Flyer - You make a handsome Father Christmas!

KRM - Love it.  Kenny Rogers style.

Dougnotta - Wonderful!  You and Mrs make a lovely pair.

Banks - The gals spent all day there.  The princesses shopped in every store in the mall.  They love it in your neck of the woods.  They were going to check out the lights by the lake, but the line was gawd awful.

Roy - Their chapter president is our volunteer caboose attendant, so they are always up to speed.

On vacation and holidays the rest of the year.  Staying home this year.  Will be nice to slow down and catch up on things areound the house that have been neglected for the last few months.

dBaker - do a search on '4522 Team Scream'  That should turn up some information on the previous robots that have been built.  Might even turn up some video of the meets we've competed in.

Got the minivan into the dealer today for an oil change and tire rotation.  Filled the gas on the way home.  Prices are supposed to start increasing in the next couple of days.

I don't remember if I mentioned this or not, but the Cobalt SS was traded in on a 2015 Ram pick up.  Has a 5.7 Hemi worth 395hp and 410ftlb of torque. Lights up both rear tires when the accelerator is matted from a stand still with the traction control turned off.  Sounds good too. Gets between 20 and 22 mpg on the highway.  We towed our Jeep up to Michigan in November with it. The truck did not seem to care there was almost 6000 lb of Jeep and trailer hooked behind it.  Of course mileage dropped to 12.5 mpg.

About all for now.

8N - Welcome to the Mopar Brotherhood....I think Fife is in that club as well...

Nice to SEE YUZ GIZ.....

Shaved off my Fu Manchu a couple a years ago, otherwise I couldn't go into a fire building with a mask....first time since I was 18 I was fuzz-less and still no facial hair.  I like firefighting too much...

Got most of the shopping done, just a couple things left and I'm over.

I'll finish off Mom and Dad's tree tonight by putting the tree blanket down then some Fastrack and Dad's mechanically restored 1666 with some WInter Wonderland Express cars. 70 years old and still runs like a top.

Most, if not all of the office staff is gone and I'm still here until 430, I rushed around to get some tech work done for a 2PM conference call and, of course, they cancelled it.   Go figure.

I'll check back during the weekend.  Stay safe!

Evening all!

temps started at 50 around midnight and continuously down since then. A wet cold 36 right now. Not supposed to freeze though.

Spent yesterday and today cleaning out another room and finishing touches on the repainted room for sister and BIL arrival tomorrow. Looking forward to it. Our family is a fun group when we get together.

Lot of good posts about the beards. I had one for a few years thinking it would be less work than shaving everyday. That was wrong, it was more work. So off it went after about 2 years.

Dennis - glad your trip north went smoothly!

Settling in for the weekend. Fire going in the bricked hole in the wall and adult beverages in hand!

Regards, Roy

Good evening all,

Very quiet at work today.  Drizzly weather for walk.  Watched George C. Scott version of "A Christmas Carol".  Very good.  Not much else going on. Comments about beards are interesting.  Only had once for a show I was doing.  Did not look bad, but wife did not like it and it would have been hot in the summer.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Warning, Got a strange e-mail that said it was from Doug Murphey with a link in it. I did not open it and I don't think Doug sent it.

They are calling for 2" two 4" of snow tomorrow. Katie and the klan are coming out for a gift exchange so we will see how that goes.

Got a few things to do but not much.

Yesterday I went to the assessment office and signed up for my senior citizen exemption that will knock another 5K off the property tax assessment on top of the 6K general homestead exemption. That should help some. Made to much last year to get the senior tax freeze but they are raising the bar next year to 65K so I should be able to do that for 2018 taxes.

I have had my beard since 1976, Only cut it off once so I could wear a mask to rebuild a  Anhydrous ammonia pump.

Enjoy Christmas!

Good evening all,

Granddaughter's ballet show was good.  Had better seats and could actually see what was occurring.  We got to see her for a minute after the show as well.  Her face just lights up talking about it.  Okay, it is not soccer, but it is still "footie".  Weather was cold, but mostly dry.  Lots of projects tomorrow.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Morning all!

The beards are looking good boys! I never got past "vacation" beard.

Well, we did one final run yesterday to Walmart and Menards to pick up some special orders. I wonder what the special order from Menards could be....

We had the Mrs' dad's side over last night for round one of Christmas. We took the easy way out and ordered pizza!! Watched some football (ugh, my Packers) and had a good evening. Round two at my BIL's today.

Spank - Thanks for the back story. Nice write up on the tailgating! I usually get to Ann Arbor a few times a season to see my Wolverines. We usually have van full with all of the tailgating gear. Sometimes that's better than the game! We started doing road trips this season. Our first one was Purdue. We are planning to go to see Notre Dame in September. We might have to add another road trip to New Jersey on November 10th. Go Blue!!

Well, off to hockey and church.

Have a good one.

Hi guys,

Woke up to a winter wonderland with three deer standing in the front yard looking in the windows of the house asking for some food. It is 20 out and will only hit 23 today so they will be a lot more friendly from here out till the weather gets better. Snowing steady but light now.
Katie and the kids are coming out around 1:00 for their gift exchange and an oil change on Katie's car. So I better get going and start the pork roast I am doing in the crock pot or it won't be done in time. And I had better feed those deer too.

Have a Merry Christmas Eve guys.

Happy Christmas Eve.  Grandgirls and Col due at noon.  Col is crawling and pulling up.  Will be into things I'm sure.  Wifey has fixed the girls up with everything they wanted.  Col gets a Remington .243 rifle with scope for his first Christmas.  Will be funny to watch the parents open the box.  Especially after I say, "Every little boy needs a Daisy Red Ryder BB."  Spoil them is the name of the game.

Kev, give them some corn.  What we do.  Also, they love old bread, cake, donuts, pie and etc.  No joke.

God bless you all.

Mornin' boys.  Sunny & 38 along the Patterson Creek cut-off.  Calling for wind and some Snohizo overnight.  Already went to market for fresh pies for tomorrow's dinner.  Wifey is wrapping last of the gifts now.  After a 14 hour/2 trip day, youngest princess is still in bed.  She earned it.  She racked up the most 1-day sales for the year, then we gave the coaches a once over cleaning.

Santa is whooped.  Loved the kids.  As for the adults, we will post this sign next year:  PARENTS Please be courteous to those waiting in line behind you.  (Yeah, we'll see how much that ink was waisted...)Sigh

Happy B-Day to the Idea of the world.

Afternoon all!

Sunny and very windy. Another front came through and it will freeze tonight.

Back from services and family lunch at a local burger place. Sat in the bar where the kids could watch all the games. Good fun!

We also do a Christmas Eve dinner at a nice restaurant. Seafood this year. Then home for beverages and family fun.

Hope all have a great day! Prayers to uplift those needing it!

Just wanted to say Merry Christmas to all our friends on the Pot.  It was warm here today and not at all like a white Christmas.  Going out to eat for the second night in a row with friend from church.  I don't know if he is lonely or thinks I am but whatever, I'll take it.  My oldest son and his family will spend Christmas day with me.  Bought all kinds of junk at the store yesterday.  Hope somebody uses it. Have a good one,

Ray
