Morning.  Sunny and hot.  Having to water.  Dry after outside of addition was was completed. Confused

Wifey gone to Home Show [a biggie] as Master Gardener.  Will answer gardening questions.  This is good for her after this week's "event".

Got some minor things to do.  Wifey cooked big breakfast.  Helps after taking meds on Saturday night.

Good morning,

Another hot one today in the 90s and by the end of the week the heat will be on. Huh?

Been on this thing to get burial plots for the wife and I. Just thought it would be one less thing for someone else to deal with.  Finding out a lot. So I lived in a town for 56 years and now that I don't it will cost $2,000 each for a plots that would cost $250 if we still lived there. Is that nuts? This is where all my relatives are and where I would like to be. Have any of you ran into something like this?

The good thing is I know the sexton of the cemeteary and he said I can have my sister buy them for us because she still lives in town. So I called her and she wants to get hers as well so sometime soon we will get that over with. We need to sit down with the sexton and go over the options first.

Anyways best be going.

KEV, be burried on your Ponderosa.  What Pam's Daddy requested and they did it.  Burried in the yard [well, up the hill some] where he was born and lived most of his life.  He was gone when he was in the AF during Korea.  Then worked for NASA with sometime in Hampton VA and Houston TX.  That was about 10 years.  Rest of the time right there on the farm.  Worked in Raleigh most of his life.

Evening all!

A nasty one at 91 today, but very humid. Ugh. A bit of a breeze this evening so not at bad. Played fetch with daughters dog which is visiting while daughter went to ride horses. Both kids will join us for dinner tonight.

NASCAR was ok today, but overall pretty boring. It is good I guess that Toyota figured out their engine failure woes from a couple of years ago, but this year Toyota and a couple of drivers have dominated most of the races. Some stats presented for the year (I think) show Toyotas dominating laps led this season by a HUGE margin over Chevy and Ford. Time for some changes.

We have a family plot in Houston but we plan to be cremated. I may ask for some of my ashes to be intered in the family plot, but the wife is from Dallas and will not let any of her ashes end up in Houston (unless I outlive her Smile, Wink & Grin).

Kev - a coworker and I were staying at the Omni in Atlanta back in '96 or so. We were in the process of checking out and before all the ATM machines existed everywhere. We still had places to go and realized we need some cash. Recall a hotel would let you cash a check. We asked if they would cash a check and the answer was yes. So my buddy said he wanted to do that just as they handed him his receipt for his stay. So he started to write a check and they said they only cash checks for "guests" - we just looked at each other. Really? So I had not checked out so I cashed a check for both us before I got my receipt.

Good evening all,

Quiet day.  Wife and I went to see "IT".  Did a pretty good job.  Not terribly scary.  Found out Lucas and wife are having a baby.   Those who have been here a while will recall he had testicular cancer and the chances of being a dad were slim to none.   Just hope all goes well.  Weather still hot.  I hope everyone has a good day.

SighSigh  Mornin' boys.  Sunny & 65 (going to 90) in the Potomac Highlands.

I kept saying,"Don't do it - don't do it - don't do it..."

Now my Sunday afternoons will be spent seeking other pursuits (perhaps rail related).

Idea And with the money I'll save not purchasing Pepsi/Gatorade, Buschhhhh, McDonald's, Under Armor, Verizon, and not needing to ship by FedEx, nor Banking at M&T,  I'll have more funds to spend on Lionel Postwar.

cheapclassics - Congrats on the new grandbaby.  I think Soccer would be an excellent American sport.

Good morning,

Another one in the oven today. Hit 97 on Saturday and 94 yesterday. 70 now and will hit 90 again today. Cool Cooling into high 60s by end of the week. Burnt a load of leaves and nuts yesterday.

Went ahead and ordered the brake controller yesterday for the Colorado.

Chief, I am thinking about it but you can't just do it on your own property without a new survey showing where you are pluggged into the dirt. Ashes you can thow anyplace. Laugh

Good Morning All.

Finally back up and running, computer was ka-put for awhile. Was repairing it myself but ran into some issues that were beyond my tech skills. Fry's did a good job at an extremely reasonable price.

Visit with the oncologist went well, very up-front with no BS. Will be taking a pretty strong drug whether I have surgery or not. The only difference will be when I start the drug regimen.

Friday I go in for a PET Scan which will determine whether or not I have the surgery. If I do it will be about a weeks stay in ICU and possibly another week after that in the hospital.

But the real kicker is the $ for the cancer drug. Almost had a coronary when they told me the price. After all coverages are applied my copay will be about $2800 per month +/- a couple of bucks. But at that rate it won't take long to fall into the "catastrophic category" and the co-pay will drop tremendously.

Later all,

Morning all!

It's been a busy few days for me. I starting my week vacation with a bittersweet tone. The good was a boys road trip to Indiana to see Michigan at Purdue over the weekend. Definitely the hottest football game I ever watched! The bad was my sister in law passed away suddenly. She was only 25. :( FYI, it was due to a massive seizure. So, the rest of my week will be helping my wife and her family prepare for the funeral.

Mike C. - I did the same with Young Sheldon. The commerical showing him playing with his Lionel trains hooked me in for the beginning, but I'll likely pass on the show. Congrats as well!

Have a good day and prayers to those in need.

SJ,
I get “unsafe to use” warnings from FireFox every time I go to log on to this site.

Hot here still. 74 heading to 90s. tomorrow not so much.

Got a call from my cousin David yesterday. I have not heard from him since the 90s. He wants to come out Thursday to visit. That will be nice.

No plans for today.

There is a worm in the woodshed. Surprise

One reason I always log out of here when I am done.

Good Afternoon from hot 90°F Southern Ohio,

I took the first 6 hours of work off today to pour the new garage floor.  The contractor had good help and the job went smoothly.  I am satisfied with the work they are doing and the garage is shaping up.  I’ve been busy clearing brush piles and now have the front to the point where the only obstacles are the trees.  Several years of stacks of branches picked up have made a great source for firewood for evening fires and we’ve had several.  I am going to get another chainsaw.  My 30 year old saw is shot and I’m now starting to work on the big dead falls that has accumulated in the woods.

My mother in law is going to have a valve in her heart replaced later this week.  My bride and her older sister are going to be with her.  The operation will be in Columbus about 2 hours away and I’ll have the kids and their running to do so I’ll be busy again but in a different way.  I’m not much of a cook so the meals will be a little less creative than usual with the exception of the meals that Mary is making up ahead of time for us.

May God bless

Jim

Jim I had a value replaced just about a year ago. September 13th if I remember correctly. Then spent the next 2 weeks in the hospital as the V.A. would not accept me back for some reason.   Oh well all is fine. back to doing all I did before hand and then some.

Happy Days Are Here Again !!!!!

Got a very eureka type call this afternoon regarding the co-pay on my cancer drug presription. What was supposed to be a $2800/month co-pay is being waived for the rest of this year and probably the next.

Good Morning from beautiful 67°F Southern Ohio,

Thank you for the encouraging words about the heart valve procedures.  MIL is 88 and outside of the heart issue is in generally good health.

I checked out the newly poured garage floor after work last night.  It is a little rougher than I wanted but it will fine.  After the concrete cures a bit the contractor will start setting trusses then things will shape up fast.  The ground work for the new garage created more flat areas and I plan on moving the chickens and rabbits behind the garages and we now have a place beside the original garage to park our camper.

Still researching chain saws, so far narrowed the lot to Echo, Huskavarna or Stihl (price ascending).  Leaning toward the Stihl.

Doug – great news on the copay

Break is over and time to get to work

May God bless

Jim

Good morning,

Big change today, 63 heading to 74 with clouds. nothing much else here.

Phish, I still use my 1978 Jonsereds 49SP with 18" bar I got new. Huskavarna are a good saw for the money. I would get their 455 Rancher with an 18" bar if it was me. If you go Stihl stay away from the homeowner line (there junk) and only get the Farm & Ranch or Pro series ones. Only go elect if you don't have anything to do. Laugh

Aloha. Much cooler (more normal temps) today. More adventures in TV 'configuration' last night. I cancelled our cable tv and put in an antenna but have all sorts of unexpected issues.  MikeC, I forgot to congratulate you on your upcoming grand. Robmm, my condolences - that is too young. Doug, great news about the co-pay! I just got a $7K bill for my ER visit (due to my back). We'll see how that gets shaved down (hopefully) a bit.

SiL got a call-back from Chicago Police Dept. We'll see if it leads to a next step in his job search. There are weeks of tests, assessments and the like...

Afternoon all!

Finally finished all my signups for Medicare Supp Ins and Part D. What an ordeal to undertsand everything - but the over-the-phone signup went smoothly, but did take over an hour.

Dougnotta - that is great news re the meds costs!

Dennis - yes the coax is less susceptable to interference. Glad it worked well!

Phish - nice re the new garage - widh I had the space (and the $$$)

Doug M - good luck with that ER bill - ouch!

I have a 10" Remington electric chain saw. Been happy with it. It also has an 8ft pole, but it is a bit heavy when on the pole. But all my trees are an easy ext cord length from the house!
