the #4999 set seems to be well documented in the Marx Sets book (Greenberg Vol III) but you may be short a boxcar or reefer in that set you listed; either the B&O #384299 or C&S #555 being the two examples given. nothing really remarkable, though a picture of the contents might confirm that. as was mentioned previously, condition is a huge factor in common Marx sets as far as value. a nice setbox with all the cardboard inserts tends to attract a bit more attention. the tunnel was probably an added accessory.
cheers...gary
The "Road Trip" option is to take the train to the Kruger Street Toy and Train Museum in Wheeling, WV or the Marx Toy Museum south of Wheeling in Moundsville, WV.
Anyone remember this famous Marx Toy?

Condition is everything with values.
The best way to know what your trains are really worth is to search ebay for similar items and see what is currently being paid for your trains in similar condition.
To really get an actual assessment it would help to see photos of everything including the boxes. The general rule I use for figuring out values is if it was valuable then it's valuable now. Marx made a lot of low-end sets for department stores and 5 and dime type stores.
Try posting some photos and sharing the link here. You'll get a much more accurate assessment that way.
Good luck. AA.
