I have seen that link and it features several interesting plans, but they all use 036. I see reference in it to 042 but that must be sectional track. Has someone designed one for 048? I don't want to just buy track and sit on the floor and try and piece it together. I am hoping someone has a plan and a list that I can take to a train show and use to shop with.
Thanks.

I plan to put a Lionel train under the tree this year, and purchased a Hogwarts Express set for this purpose. Despite some tinkering it still looks silly on the minimum 036 curves. So, I thought I would purchase some 042 track to let it not only look better but perhaps operate a little better (especially the engine's pilot truck).
Problem is, I want something besides a plain boring loop or circle. In 036 I found several plans that featured "inverted loops" (where one loop sits inside the other) connected by either a 90 or 45 degree crossing. I love these kinds of track plans.
I can find nothing like that for 042, except for one that featured several 90 degree crossing and look just too busy for under the tree.
Can anyone post a plan that uses 042 that is more than a plain circle or loop around the tree? Preferably one that doesn't rely on switches, but instead on crossings, to look visually interesting!
Thanks.Ben
