For my taste, among steamers the Pacific 4-6-2 has always been the "Goldilocks engine", not too big, but not too small.
For diesels it's a toss up:
I have figured out what is wrong with my brain! On the left side nothing works right, and on the right side there is nothing left!
As J White says, I'm not sure this is my favorite engine, but I do take a lot of photos of the American Flyer version of the Hiawatha.
