I have a 2333 and have had 20 freight cars behind it, about 10 were post war and the other 10 were MPC with the wheels that roll very easily. The engine will pull more cars than the couplers will. I think the engine will pull 30+ cars if the couplers don't come open.
I have the 2333 set here. I have not pulled passenger cars but have had 14 freight cars behind them on 054 curves with no problems. I suspect that as long as you run on level track with no inclines that they will work fine for you. Before you buy them look to see if any of the wheels are rubbing against the inside of the motor trucks. This would indicate worn out axle bearings and will produce drag. If so, I would pass on them unless you can fix them yourself.

No I don't but if it's a good deal go ahead and get them, you can always upgrade to a later model. A drop of oil at each wheel/axle will be a big help on how well any engine pulls these cars.

I'm looking at buying a set of 1948-1949 pre-magnetraction 2333 F3's. I already own 4 of the 2500 series aluminum passenger cars. I know that the 2333 were cataloged before the passenger cars of 1952, but the engines are in such great shape that I don't want to pass them up.
Does anyone own the 2333 that can tell me if they will pull all 4 aluminum cars without wheel slipping? If not, I'll look for a set of 2343 with magnetraction. Thanks!!!
