This thread vaulted my mind back a half century to Summers spent in Rhinelander Wisconsin with my own grandparents. The images of the tree, the dock, the train, and the grandparents' home. I hope you both can hook up. The Museum sounds interesting. Especially with the memories.

Thanks for the reply about the C&O RR running behind my Grand Mothers "Old House". I did visit your museum several years ago and spotted a paper bag on display featuring my Great Grand Fathers flower mill, I believe is was Brown's Flower Mill.

Thank you for sharing that information it is really nice to get that kind of feedback from a post. The museum is just up the street from the dock you are referring to. It is in the old Mooretown school. Probably behind the house your Grand Mother lived in. The railroad is still running and it is now a CSX line and it services the local industry. According to the information I have Pere Marquette operated from 1902 and Chesapeke and Ohio took over in 1947. I hope you get the opportunity to come back to the area. If you do please let me know I would like to meet you. I will try to post some pictures from tomorrows event.
Wow, thanks for posting. I spent many summers in Mooretown when my parents shipped me from Detroit to my Grand Mother's home. She lived on the highway across from the ore dock in the 1852 Home with the sign "The Old House". The railroad ran just behind her property and I can remember sitting in a crab apple tree next to the tracks and hanging on for dear life when the steam train roared by. Any one know what rail road that would have been?
Moore Museum in Mooretown Ontario Canada is having a Grand Opening of their Lionel Model Train room on Sunday June 23rd at 1:30 p.m. admission is free for this event only. There will be free hot dogs cake and pop as well. It is also the grand opening of their new General Store exhibit. This is a nice little museum and very much worth the visit.
