Unlike tubular track, Fastrack curves are measured as the diameter to the center rail.  So you just add the width of the roadbed to 48 inches to get the diameter to the outside of the roadbed.  I think that gets you to about 51 or 52 inches, which gives you a total of 8 inches to spare, or 4 inches on each side of the layout.

Lionel Fast Track 048 Curves?
Posted by RRaddict on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 2:32 PM

This is a question as dumb as the guy who is my Avatar but it is one thing I have very little knowlege about. If some one can tell me if I can use 048 Fast Track curves on a layout with a width of a little over 5 ft. I know 042 fit when I was using Realtrax but no clue as of how a 048 curve would fit. Any help for this non-mathmatical genius would be appreciated.
