When I got my first Fastrack with a set from Menards in 2005 I went and bought some straight Realtrax to compare. There were several sections that I could NOT get to attach to each other. I broke the ends on 2 of them and returned the rest. A guy at the hobby shop also could not get several sections to attach to each other. I saved the rails from the two broken sections and tossed the roadbed. My layout is halfbreed Fastrack and tubular.

I looked at the link. No way that that is the completion of a 042 circle. When you try and lift one section to an incline, the other side disconnects. Only way to connect it is straight in on a flat surface and LOTS of muscle.

Some folks on the Fastrack Yahoo group have talkked about having derailment problems with 048 fastrack switches. I cannot speak from experience on this either pro or con. They say you have to take the switches apart and adjust the swing rails somehow. Does anyone here have any first hand knowledge of this?

thanks,

George

Where there is a will, there is a way I guess...

Well I can tell you right now I use that exact same technique and NONE of my RealTrax goes together that easily!!! Is that the newest version and did they change something??? And I wonder why the idiots st MTH keep this technique such a big secret?  Confused

It's just 12 extra pieces that I had in the extra track box.  None of it is the new tubular stuff.

I think it is like trying to get a Volkswagon Jetta 5 speed in reverse for the first time...until you realize all you have to do is push the shift knob down to put it in reverse,..which is always better than opening up the door and putting your left foot on the pavement.  Jetta people don't think anything of it because it has become second nature.

I had the same problem with the MTH Z1000 controller launching the special features on the MTH engines.  After a couple of days, I realized it was getting pretty easy, but not as easy as buying a DCS system...
