Bob, I've already infiltrated OGR for CTT. My signature line on that forum reads: Enjoying Classic Toy Trains on the Jumijo RR!
Let me guess. The check is in the mail...

I read'em both and except for several of the ads I see very little direct overlap or a "me, too" approach which is good.

I like them both. Lots of good information in each. You need to order both so you can get your train fix most of the year. I know that it is tough to put out a magazine 7,9,12 times a year, so have to take what we get. For those considering ordering the other magazine, you should also get CTT so you can see photos of something other than MTH!.
Anyway, keep up the good work Bob, et.al.

I have read OGR in the past and that magazine is too much into politics compared to getting trains running again! At least that was the way it was about five years ago. I can find just as much about the O gauge world reading CTT as I can reading OGR.

According to a post by Ed Boyle on the OGR Forum...
The August issue of O Gauge Railroading has comprehensive coverage of our factory visit with Atlas O to Sanda Kan, their manufacturer in China. We were delighted to be invited by Atlas O and permitted access to the factories that produce their products at Sanda Kan. In doing the article, we learned a great deal about how the process works when two groups of people separated by 8,000 miles, 13 time zones, language and culture work together effectively to produce quality trains we want to buy. Along the way we expose some urban myths about making your trains and provide some unique insights into just what it takes on both sides of the Pacific to turn an idea into a finished product that winds up on dealer shelves and on your layout. We think this article will give you a better understanding of the design, development, manufacturing and distribution of Atlas O trains and, by extension, many of the other trains and accessories that are available today.
Sounds to me like a lucky shot that there's a photo of CTT box cars being finished in the pages of OGR. But I'll be interested in reading their article. With all the "made in the USA" posts being bantered about, versus all the "please tool up a new multi-million dollar tooling steam loco every month" posts it ought to be interesting.
I don't need to read the article to know though, that the reason we have so much variety in trains today is because they're made in China where the tooling costs are so much more affordable. And I don't need to read the article to know that the profits from all the long ago developed traditionally sized 027/0 trains are going straight into high end scale development.
Makes me laugh.... some of the scale guys despise us 027 operators and the idea of TOY (gasp) trains, but they couldn't have their scale trains without us. They NEED us more than they know!! I won't hold my breath waiting for a "thank you" from them though. Talk about a LONG wait at the mailbox!!

brianel,
I don't despise any toy train operators or anyone else involved in the hobby of model railroading. Nevertheless, if it will make you feel better, I'll be glad to say "thank you." I came up through the ranks from O27. I still have my childhood trains and there isn't any train anywhere that I hold more dear.
