Williams engines are great pullers, and if you check out their catalog (more like a flyer), you'll have no shortage of roadnames to choose from.
I would also consider an MTH docksider engine for your O-27 layout. Good puller, smokes up a storm, and nice detail (but not so much that little hands can snap things off).
