Is the loco tripping the transformer?....... The engine may not be on the track.
Is the loco totally dead(no sound smoke, ect) or is it just not moving?

DaylightFan,
Sounds like you may have a track that has lost power at the center rail, the PS-2 loco's are fussy about losing power on the track and may need to be restarted if you have the DCS system. I have an MTH PS-2 steam locomotive that has given me some problems and I have found that the problems are due to interrupted power supply to the center pick-up shoe on the locomotive, at some switches it used to stall on me and at uncoupling tracks so I removed the uncoupling track rather than have the locomotive at over half speed around the track.
I bought the MTH battery charger for my locomotive and use a Z1000 transformer by MTH for power, and have the DCS TIU unit, to the MTH PS-2 loco and have no complaints other than bad track sections.
Try these suggestions before going further and think that you have a warrenty issue.
