THose are cool. I'm definitely getting the North Pole Central set. My daughter will love the mini versions of "her" train.

Obviously, the intent of the series has drifted over the years.  It began as a salute to Postwar classic and well-respected Lionel trains.  It then drifted to include highly sought after MPC or LTI sets.  Now, it's moving to become a tribute to modern, limited edition sets that it seems nobody bothered to buy because of price , delays, and disinterest..  Last year's and this year's offerings puzzle me.   The turbine earned Lionel a great deal of antipathy.  The new Freedom Train seemed to pass almost unnoticed.

I agree he series has taken a turn for the worse. I believe the first year it was a 700E and then a 2343. I found these good choises, but then I just keep shaking my head at the current offerings.

A diesel engine! I wouldn't have picked that one, though...pretty bland. Oh well.
Long live the BNSF .... AND its paint scheme. SchemerBob
