lionel OTC connectors - GG track
Posted by cheech on Thursday, May 24, 2007 12:33 PM

I'd like to hook up the lionel Horse car corral and Cattle Car corral to GG track. both use the lionel otc connector.

Has any body done it? do you use the connector by taking out ties? can the GG unloader track replace the OTC connector?

any ideas/suggestions

thanks

Cheech,

Before you change track on the Lionel accessory and possibly ruin its value I would go with GarGraves track adapter pins for either 027 or O gauge track and place adapter pins at each end. The adapter pins sell for about $3.00 a pack and you get 12 in a pack so you can adapt track at two locations with one pack of adapter pins.

If your accessory is with Fastrac you will have adapt first to O gauge track than to Gargraves pins, don't know of any adapter pins for Gargarves to Fastrac.

If you can't find the adapter pins I have some extra ones I can mail you, just let me know.

Hi lee

Thanks, I was thinking the same way, preserve the PW.  These are both my original items from the 50's they have tested well, but before i installed them into the layout, i noticed how much GG track i will have to cut/fit arount the 0-27. Probably going to be worth it in the end.

I'll just remember to measure twice before I cut the GG track. As to the pins, thanks for the kind offer. I appreciate it.  I should have enough, if not i always like to keep a few on hand so i'll probably get some anyway with my next order for other connections and the like.

Ralph,

I used GG when I installed my post war cattle car on the layout.  All I did was to cut the ties enough to clear the pieces of upright metal that contact the car.  GG is the same height as O27 if I remember correctly.
