Lionel Honda set questions
Posted by Boyd on Sunday, April 29, 2007 1:22 AM
Anyone have any pictures of the side of the engine/tender? One of these sets is for sale locally. He said it is from 2006. His family got it as a gift. Kids ran it  for 2 hours and lost interest in it so he is selling it. Asking $150 but would take $130. It probably has the CW80 and could  be pre Lionel fix. My CW80 from my Wisconsin Central set does not work and it has probably less than 20 hours on it.

If it's from 2006 you should still be able to view it in the online catalog on Lionel's website.

I'm on dial-up and it takes absolutely forever to get that first page and wander around to find what I'm looking for. I thus rarely go on the Lionel site.

I would not buy the set because of which transformer it has.  You should be able to call Lionel about your WC set though and get a new CW80.  If you buy this other set and the transformer goes bad, do the same thing.  It seems that your train collection is expanding.  If you like the set, get it, but also budget for another transformer.  The KW mentioned in the other thread would be good, but it doesn't have a whistle button.  You can get a whistle button from your dealer.  One thing about a KW, you can run two separate loops and have plenty of power.

Are you refering to the poswar KW? If so it does have a whistle button.
