American Flyer layout on a tri-fold door
Posted by pbjwilson on Saturday, April 7, 2007 8:47 PM

Heres my latest effort. Its an American Flyer layout on a folding door. I dont have room for a permanent setup so I came up with the idea of a collapsible train table. The table top (a tri-fold door) sits on top of my kids game table. When they need the space the whole thing can be broken down and stored. Each door segment is 15" x 80" and they are all hinged together.

I garbage picked these doors a long time ago. Most ended up as shelving in my garage. They were actually bi-fold doors. I took one apart and added on to make it a tri-fold. The table top is very sturdy. I will add some ground foam eventually, along with trees and other removable scenery. It's a start.

Good job Paul.  There is a lot of enjoyment in a small layout such as yours.  Using recyled doors also adds to the novelty of the layout.

Enjoy your layout...
