I dont know if this will be a question or complaint. Perhaps you out there can help me out. See, Im on of the oddballs around here, who actually like to model the present, not the past. I get so tired of seeing companies releasing old, antiques of locos that were never widely produced anyway.
I am still waiting for someone,ANYONE to make more options for todays passenger fleet. Modern commuter rail is EVERYWHERE! Its in every magazine, newspaper, and usually on the news. Case in point,Pacific Surfliner/California cars. HEY,the locos have been out for sometime,so long,in fact, that the are already being dicontinued by manufacturers. I really never expected to see Coaster of Metrolink cars in my lifetime, but they showed up,albeit for a short time.
And why hasnt Kato come out with the new BNSF logo on their locos? They have no problem making SD-38 units. Gee,those are REAL popular. Even the Amtrak F-40s are in the old paint scheme,so they wont go on a modern Surfliner.
Right now,Tower 55 is the only company making the new GEVO units.Of course, they are priced at $320.00! OUCH! I remember when a powered unit from Athearn was $50.00,and that was with the good metal handrails.
Guess by the time these care are retired from service, someone will put them out as a complete set for a Retro-train.
Tater to the forum !! Just wonder if you are talking about Ho gauge ? ! We are mostly S & O-gage here & we do have a few companies making the commuter trains I believe you're talking about. MTH & Lionel are making them now !!
Thanks, John
