In the December, 2006 issue of CTT, the article titled "Lionel Returns To The Big Apple" beginning on page 67, had great pictures of the Grand Central Terminal Layout.
Looking at the elevated double tracks, there are red railings on both sides. How were these made?

Fish Plate to the forum !! I just checked that article you mentioned & I would think the railing was made with Plastruct moldings. This material is available in hobby shops & another way they may have been made for real strength would be with K & S brand, square brass tubing, soldered !! Just my thoughts, not sure !! Possibly our own member here may know as he works on that layout each year, which is Roy McClelland, a top electrical engineer !!

Fish Plate - Welcome to the CTT Forum!
The GCT railings were custom laser cut. As John suggests - you could use Plastruct styrene (or similar from your hobby shop) and make a jig, lay up the pieces (overlap them) and create with a very nice railing that you could easily adjust to an appropriate height for your layout.
