I am working on the top level of my layout. I have Atlas track with joint terminals. Power is coming from a KW. There are 2 connections @ 6 feet apart. My MPC and PW engines slow down about 2 feet from one of the power leads. Any ideas as to the problem?

Sounds like there's a track section where the power drops due to a poor connection. Running a feeder line from the power supply to the place where the trains slow down should take care of the problem.

Check if you have the newer type track connectors. There was a problem with the original clips
