Any fix for the throttle slipping off the gears on the modern ZW controller?
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, March 26, 2007 6:26 PM

I recently bought a modern ZW second hand. The handles were loose and tender to slip alot. When I opened the top cover, I found that the gears that the handles were linked to were jumping and skipping if you put too much pressure on the handle.

I believe this was a early production unit that had this problem and that Lionel had a kit to fix this.   Does any one know anything about this retrofit?

Thanks. I will have to track down a copy of CCT.   Does the fix involve adding a metal bracket to gear assembly?

I also got a reply from Lionel website:  "They don't a have a kit. ...sent it to your local service center to fix it."   If they don't have a kit, how is a service center suppose to fix it?  Oh well....

 Thanks

Also OGR Backshop video has the repair.  Not hard at all.  Also, can download PDF file on that issue of CTT.

Thank you Boxcar Bill for the Lionel part number. I have ordered them and look forward to getting it.  Still have to track down the Feb CTT issue.   Thanks again
