Vintage Lionel Track

I am hoping to gain info regarding track. It was passed down within my family, starting with an initial set from December 1938. Additional sets were added over the years until the early 60's.
Oldest track - some sections are clean, others have some rust, older switch sections need repair
Newer track - lighter gauge and quite clean, with swith sections operable.
I know that cars/engines have solid value so they are being cleaned for display on my walls.
What is the value of the track?
Also have 3 original transformers that need restoration.
Any inisght?

Old Lionel track has little, if any, monetary value. Clean it up and use it. It adds character to your layout.

Frank is right. With exception of specialty track such as T rail or 072 straights, vintage track has little value. Especially if it's dirty or rusted (it has none). Collectors often disregard it and sell it at swap meets for pennies on the pound.

Pocket guides list it at only about $.50 a piece (if in good condition).

I speculated as much. I'm not planning on setting up a layout. Just do not have the room.

 Hello Coventry!     Frank53 is the King of Tubular Track & has his own Secret Society with a scheme to take over the World with Tubular Track on every Layout. As for your Transformers- Just take them to a reputable Lionel Shop & have them gone over for service. If there is no such place in your neck of the woods, Just let us know & a recomendation can be made for you as to where you can take your Transformer's. Take Care.
