Anybody from the forum going? Always alot of good stuff to see. I'm thinking of going Saturday afternoon. Anybody else?
Hello Paul:
What is the show about? I have never heard of it. Do you have some information? I am looking forward to the "All American Train Show" on March 24th in LaGrange. Is the show this weekend similar?
Regards,
John O
John,
The Harper College show is mainly operating layouts from local clubs and individuals. They fill, and I mean fill, the entire gym, 3 full size basketball courts, with layouts. Z through G, narrow gauge, traction, you name it, its there. The Chicagoland LGB club assembles a huge layout on the floor with about a dozen LGB trains running. Lots and lots of HO. Lots and lots of O. There are some vendors selling trains and stuff, but its primarily an operating layout show. Also a great Lego setup that draws the kids, and adults. Good stuff!
When is the La Grange show? One of my favorite towns. I used to hang out at "The Wheel Thing" bike shop.
It sounds a lot like the All American Train Show. I would imagine many of the same layouts will be on display. The LaGrange show is Saturday, March 24th, 9-5 at Lyons Township High School. My wife informs me that we may have to go to Michigan on the 24th for a niece's b-day party. So, I may take my son up to Palatine on Saturday.
I'll be there Saturday afternoon sometime. Check out this link for hours, directions, and photos from last year - it also has a coupon. There was some HO traction that was unbelieveable - hopefully, the O gauge modular club will be out there.
