Which William Passenger Cars For O27?

We now have an O27 layout with 42 inch curves and K-Line switches.  I have always wanted a GG1 and plan to get the Williams Semi Scale.  A local hobby store recommended the Aluminum Luxury cars from Williams to match it as a Congressional set.  Will these work on the 42" radius track plus clear the K-Line wide radius switches?  Or do I need to step back to smaller cars?

They will work but you may not like the overhang. I think the shorter cars look better with a GG-1 because it has also been shortened.

I have a Williams semi scale ( 14" ) GG1, which pulls Williams Madison passenger cars. I run it on 42" curves. It looks fine. On the 031 curves, it has some overhang. But runs fine.

The aluminum Luxury Liners are 16" coupler to coupler, and have 15" bodies.  They require a minimum curve of O-31.

The semi-scale GG-1 is 14" long.

The William's O-27 semi-scale streamlined passenger are 12" long, and they look good with the semi-scale GG-1.  There is an O-27 Pennsy Congresional set with a tuscan stripe.

If I go with a green GG1, what color of the O27 Williams cars is it typically matched with?

Most of the Pennsy's passenger car fleet was painted Tuscan.  It was very common in the 1960's to see a Brunswick (green) GG-1 pulling a mixed consist of heavyweight ("P70") and streamlined Tuscan passenger cars on the hourly "clocker" runs.  The Congressional and other "limited" trains between Washington, DC and New York or Boston usually had stainless steel cars in the consist with Tuscan letterboards (above the windows) and were usually pulled by GG-1's in Tuscan or Silver paint but since most of the GG-1's were Brunswick, green GG-1's sometimes hauled these trains also.

You'll be fine with Tuscan cars - Lionel re-issued some of the "Baby Madison" heavyweights a couple of years ago and you might find a heavyweight baggage car at a train show to make up a great looking "Clocker" with the Williams 027 passenger cars.  BTW - the PRR did not have any Domes on their roster, so you might want to pick up a couple of extra coach roofs to replace the Domes (although I run the Domes since they look good, even if they're not prototypical).

The Williams O-27 Congressional streamlined cars only come in silver with a tuscan stripe down the side at window level.  No choice in that.

I run a GG-1 green five stripe pulling O-27 streamlined cars.  Accurate?  I don't know, but I like it.
