Cleaning Turbine Shells!!

How do you clean a turnine's shell?? like the 671, 2020, 681 or 681 or any other diecast train engine shell....i want to be able to get all the gunk off of my 671 turbine...has a little bit of corrosion that i want to remove...how would i do this??..thanks, jeff

As with all metals, be rust or corrosion, one has to remove it down to the bare metal. If it is just in a few small places, try some nail polish remover on a Q-Tip used sparingly or a Dremmel with a sanding drum on low, then touch it up with the color desired. If it is really bad, removing all the hardware and media blasting is the way to go and re-paint the whole thing.
