Future CTT articles
Posted by Lionelking313 on Friday, February 16, 2007 7:25 PM

I really hope in the future, CTT will revisit some layouts they had in the magazine in the passed.

Some of my all time favs are

Bob Boards Flyer layout

The Lamberts collection and layout (with layout plan would be nice)

Michaeld Primacks Lionel layout (Awesome Layout, was Featured in June 1990 MR)

Well those are a few I would like to see soon, and see what progress or changes were made.  However there are plenty of others!

Any one else?

Mark

Maybe they could make up a nostalgia edition of past train layouts?  And give it away for a renewal?

I don't know about the others but Bill Lambert passed away shortly before his layout was published in CTT. It was subsequently auctioned off.

Or mine! It's small, but "interesting".

Or how about doing a spread of SUNDAY FOTO FUN?  Have all the pics on a 3-5  page spread?

Hey Laz, I suggested this to Bob and he mentioned that the quality of the photo was a problem.  Some, but not many are of the quality to publish.  It does lend itself to a preliminary for finding layouts worth a second look.  I have seen some spectacular layouts shared here.  One thing that I would like to see in some issues of CTT would be for a real in-depth look at how the whole project comes together.  From design, to benchwork, track laying, wiring, scenery, all the way up to completion.  I know there are a lot of unique ideas that have come together with spectacular results.  I would like to see them and how they did it.

I like some of the old issues and wish they would do this in new ones.  They had breakdowns and insturctions on how to maintain, repair and fine tune engines and accessories.  They could do one per issue.  We could remove them and put them in a binder for future reference.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the suggestions. We do revisit layouts from time to time, but many of the layouts published 10 and 15 years ago don't exist today.

Keep posting Sunday photos. Also, CTT's readers will be "taking a ride" on the Scenic Jumijo Railroad in the coming year, tentatively in one of the winter issues, although it's a bit early to say which one. Jim's layout is very sharp looking and he's being modest in his above posting.

Congrats to Jim A- Looks like you'll be famous now with CTT coming to your house to do a story on your layout. Look out for the Bass Boat Jim, Bob K may want to take your picture in it with a cardboard cutout of the Chief beside you with "Bunny Ears" behind your head for dramatic effect!Wink [;)]Wink [;)]Tongue [:P]Clown [:o)] Anyways, congrats to you.           P.S. Good morning everyone,

We at CTT are always looking for great O, S, and Standard gauge layouts to feature. Their size doesn't matter--just have attractive scenery and trains on them.

If you are interested in having our magazine consider your layout, please send pictures--either prints or digital images--to my attention at CTT:

You can mail them to me at

or email me at

Good luck--I'll look forward to hearing from you,

Probably the single most discussed and yet perpetually unresolved issue on this forum (IMHO) is the problem of Fastrack noise in a layout setting. Though I realize many don't use it, the fact is that many in the community do, and I believe this is an issue well worth examination by the professionals at CTT. Great numbers of Fastrack users, as well as the significant others of Fastrack users, would thank you for it.

I have no layout at this time, but am preparing the basement for one. I plan on having a loop of O a loop of S and a loop of On30 as well. Scenery will not be the first priority but instead a simple layout for running trains both passenger and freight.

Not everyone has a "realistic" layout as there are a lot of whimsical "toy" layouts out there as well and mine will have as many accessories as I can fit in with scenery as a secondary aspect of layout. And it is Cassic Toy Trains aint it???

I will keep notes on the process and maybe I can get a good article out of it.

Roger carp,

I got your e-mail you sent this morning and it sounds like your hinting at me do some pictures

of the Club layout...which I would like to do but don't have the "skill" in photography.  Don't know if I will even make it to the Spring S Spree as I am in the middle of a Job hunt at the moment.

Will keep your e-mail address on hand should I get the oppertunity to submit photos and or articles.
