K-line boxcar size question
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, February 4, 2007 6:28 AM

I finally got my tailway up on the shelf.

I have some of the Tropicana Lionel cars, 6-17XXX, and they are bigger than the 1970's cars like my 9767.  I'm gonna put the smaller cars all on one train and larger ones on the other.

What size are the newer K-line Boxcars, more like the Tropicana ones or more like Lionel 9700 series.  I was thinking of getting some as they are relatively inexpensive, and I was wanting to try some custom painting.

Also, are all the Lionel 17XXX series the same size, because I would like more of that size.

Thanks

Jason

I'd take a guess that they are like the 6464's unless they are labled "scale".

Many K-line separate sale box cars are "traditional" Lionel sized (like Tropicana box car).  The sets often come with 027 smaller cars (from old Marx tooling?) even when the engines are scale (like the switcher).
