New Lionel Catalog Cover
Posted by NYC Fan on Friday, February 2, 2007 9:36 AM

I picked up a copy of the new Lionel Catalog at my local hobby shop yesterday.
I had it by the table as I ate dinner, and it was with me on the end table while I watched some TV, heck I even looked at it in the bathroom this morning.

When I look at the cover it seemed like something was missing. At first I attributed it to the shape of the Bi-Polars. But it was more than that.  Somethin was still missing.

Then it hit me. Lionel has really done a phenominal job of bringing the 50's and 60's back to those of us who grew up in those great days, especially with the PWC Series, that I automatically had a certain expectation of the cover.

So I thought I would enhance the picture myself:

Not bad NYC!

I think they are promoting trains again, which I think is the appropriate approach.  I can't tell you how many times I've thumbed through these pages!  It still dumbfounds me why they didn't announce a B&O E7 B-Unit!  At least do a non-powered one!  I told the wife last night that I want the B&O E7 AA set for Christmas, nothing more train related, just those two engines!

NYC,

I actually e-mailed them about this very thing several years ago. Why make such a nice catalog with such an enticing picture if you're going to "understate" your brand?

Sounds like you've been seeing a lot of each other. Will you and your catalog be doing anything romantic for Valentine's Day? Wink [;)]

Is the front truck missing a wheel on the far side?? Seems to be a lot of space above the rail.
