Problems, Problems

A while ago I asked how to resuscitate some protosounds 2 locomotives. I was advised on the board to put them on the track, turn on track power for a few hours, and then attempt to use them.

I have two locos, one a Scale FM trainmaster and the other a railking mohawk. Both are from the first batch of protosounds 2 locos, and have sat on the track in my garage for 3-4 yrs I think (since not long after DCS was shipped).

Here's what happened when I followed the above advice: From the mohawk-- nothing. No lights, no action; the hand control says it's not on the track.

When I first fired up the tranmaster lit up; the bell, horn, etc both work. Directional lighting works. However, the locomotive won't move at all. No sound of the electric motors; nothing.

I do need to clean my track ( I did clean the wheels, at least what I could reach)., but I know the locos are getting power.

Where do I go from here?

The locomotives should work in convential mode. Far as the Proto Sounds you will need to either charge the batteries or change the batteries. You can buy a charger for the MTH DCS batteries at your hobby shop.  Have you put fresh batteries in the handheld remote?

If your remote says that the engine is not on the track you need to reprogram the remote by re-enterring the engine again, just like with every accessory you add you must program it to work.

I have one PS-2 locomotive and the DCS system, my handheld is a DCS Remote version 3.10, I am waiting to see what the locomotive does before buying another PS-2 loco.
