Flickering DZ1000 Lights
Posted by marxalot on Thursday, January 4, 2007 7:35 AM

Last night I was running trains and things seemed pretty normal. After a while though the LED's on the DZ1000 push buttons on the control panel started flickering whenever a train passed over the isolated section of track that serves the de-rail function. You could actually follow a train around the layout (which is not that large) just by watching the flickering lights on the control panel. I manually cycled the turnout controls using the pushbuttons with no effect. It was late so I had to shut things down but I did check for any obvious loose wires or connections. The two things I did differently last night was to add one old car and to operate at a pretty brisk speed. Removing the car and reducing speed still left the lights flickering. Anyone see something like this before? Could dirty track be causing this? I had cleaned the outer loop which was pretty dirty but the inner loop with the tunouts has not been cleaned yet. Thanks for any insight here.

If you don't find a cause send Z-Stuff an e-mail.  I've always found Dennis most helpful in trouble shooting a problem.
