Lionel Lionmaster T1-Duplex Chuff Failure
Posted by jimhaleyscomet on Saturday, December 23, 2006 10:05 AM

While under warranty my Lionel Lionmaster T1 Duplex chuffing became eratic and then stopped all together.   I think it has something to do with the flywheel sensor.  Now it has happened again.  Is this something I can repair and if so how?

I do not want to send it to Lionel again because last time UPS broke the tabs holding on the pilot wheels.

The LionMaster T-1 Duplex chuff rate is triggered by a cherry switch I think. The flywheel sensor merely measures the magnetic poles on the flywheel for speed control. If your Odyssey is still working, try to locate the cherry switch. Sometimes they gat bent down so that the sound switch cannot close. You can usuallyu bend it back to shape with a pair of needle nose plyers. Jon

Jim,

It sounds like the cherry switch to me .  I have replaced a couple of these and it's pretty easy. I usually order parts from  Brasseur Trains..    http://www.traindoctor.com/index.asp.   very nice guys.

Just call them and give the model #, although I think the cherry switch is universal. If memory is correct I think they are like 2.99 each , so you may want to order an extra or two.
