I saw the Lionel display at Grand Central this weekend and the thing that kept me fascinated the longest was the track gang 'fixing' a piece of FasTrack. The catalog picture and description dont convey how incredibly 'real' this looks. I suppose 'real' is in the eye of the beholder! I HAVE to get one of those and the crane was pretty neat too, I liked the whole layout except for the Christmas train going around the tree which worried me because of the noises it was making! I could have fixed it for them but they wouldnt let me...
I dont know what the maintenance schedule is like but we were there for two hours, the wife was buying up the store, so I had plenty of time to study the layout, I was very impressed by the reliability of the units, they sure are racking up some running time.
It makes me wonder how much, if any, of these units were tweaked or fine tuned before being put on show. I heard people express opinions that the trolley ar doesnt usually run all that well, theirs was whacking back and forth like clockwork, slamming into its bumpers merrily and reversing again and again.

I've had the track gang "working away" on my layout for almost 2 years. It's a big hit for all that see it. Joe
Durring shows our club regularly runs locomotives for 6-8 a day.The only thing we do is lubricate them once a day. This goes for Lionel.MTH,K-line and Marx engines.
