Presidents Choice Train Sets
Posted by Anonymous on Friday, December 8, 2006 4:51 PM
I am looking for information on the first 4 Presidents Choice Train Sets.  I have them unopened and would like to get them into the hands of a real collector.  I am not exactly sure what they are worth but I have a good idea.  Can anyone help me out with this?

I've never heard of these. Are they Lionel, M-T-H, Marx or what? Let us know and we can look 'em up! Jon

These sets are a Canadian thing and are a very limited edition.  Loblaws is a huge grocery chain here that started coming out with these in 1992.  They are very popular and collectors here look for them every year...there were a few years when they did not come out with any though.

They're HO scale and they're manufactured by Mehano in Slovenia (the same mfg that makes IHC products). Essentially, they're items that are modified from standard items built for IHC.

It's really kind of hard to support your local hobby shop when the nearest hobby shop that's worth the name is a 150 mile roundtrip.

I don't know if this helps, but there's a site on the set contents. : http://www.theweebsite.com/trains/pctrain_cars.html

As a rule...and rules are meant to be broken...folks don't collect H.O. scale, except for maybe some European three-rail import stuff. You may want to check the Model Railroader Forum. Jon
