Lionel Empire RTR Set

All I have to say is wow with everything that it includes it is like a beginers dream.  I was just wondering if Lionel's price of 2,799.99 is only there price and that it is lower if I order it through a local hobby shop.

I'm not familiar with that set, but for $2,700+ I would elect to build one heck of a layout with items of my own choosing. There may be exceptions, but my guess is that $2,700 worth of train stuff might be a bit intimidating to most folks considering a starter set, and more advanced hobbyists would probably just prefer to buy items that are of particular interest to them in terms of motive power, roadname, type of rolling stock, accessories, and the like.

I saw that set in the Catalog, and was very impressed with it. I am sure the local hobby shop's price will be lower than what Lionel's price is.

I gotta tell you, that set sure comes with a lot of high end stuff! I think I saw it advertised in one of the magazines for about $2000.00. When you consider what this set comes with, it isn't that bad of a deal. I can't afford it, but I sure envy those who can!!
