Looking For Estimated Cost
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, November 28, 2006 5:16 PM
I may be interested in selling my plastic construction set.  The part number is 6-21902  I was purchased about 8-10 years ago and I was wondering what I could get for it.  It's in immacualte condition.

I think I've seen them going for $50-70 on e-bay. Think they sold for $89.95 retail?

IIf you can not get rid of the set maybe you could get adventurous and add an e-unit to the loco and repaint everything. Can an e-unit be added to this loco does anyone know?

Sign - Welcome [#welcome] Tim 1786,

The construction set that you mention is listed in the Greenberg's price guide(pocket size 2006) for $87.00 in excellant condition, that means it must look like new out of the box. If it has scratches or other damage the price is lower.

As for track stay with what you have and buy some new pieces if you need to.  You are just getting into the hobby and track can be expensive depending on what you buy.

I have several Williams locomotives and they run great, also have an RDC(rail diesel car) from RMT- Ready Made Toys and it runs great.  Don't think that Lionel is the only company making O gauge or 027 stuff today.

What I have done for my layout was to use half inch plywood on saw horses made from 2 by 4's with metal brackets to connect the upright 2 by 4's to the 2 by 4's that support the plywood, use 2 inch long screws to attach the plywood to the 2 by 4's.  For the top of the plywood I used Life-Like green mats that can be purchased at most hobby stores in either 4ft by 4ft or 4ft by 8ft, used green thumb tacks to attach the mats. Found green thumb tacks at Sears Essentials store near my house.
