Identify locomotive
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, November 19, 2006 7:27 PM

Hello all..........

I am new to the forum and would welcome some assistance.

In the heydays of the D&RGW Railroad, there was a locomotive numbered 3980....

Does anyone know what type engine that might have been..............example   GE, EMD Alco or ?

It appears to me to be too small to be a road locotive.........maybe a switcher?

Assistance appreciated.

Jerry

It looks like that number was never used by the D&RGW.

 3080 was a EMD GP-40.  I'm not sure there was a 3980 diesel.
