Great interview and promotion!  One of our local radio personalities here in Pittsburgh and a good friend of mine usually does a train show around the holidays.  Since he and MTH are pretty close he usually gets Rich Foster or Mike Wolf on.  I even once did a 15minute schtick after York a few years back.

Great Job Kooljock1!

What a great interview: Roger Carp, whose writing I've always admired, really DOES exist.

Jon, that was great!  Thoroughly enjoyed the interview with Roger and his comments about the Golden Age of Model Trains.    If you do other interviews in the future concerning trains, please let us know.  Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]

I saw him when I visited Kalmbach.  He was on a long telephone conference and just waved.

Darianj,

Let me add my thanks for the links.   Listened to both parts a few minutes ago.

Buckeye,

If Jon isn't already, he needs to be made a member of OTTS.  He needs an official OTTS certificate on his wall.

Jon,

Thank you, I believe that promotions like yours are of more benefit than can be calculated.  Keep up the good work my fellow geek.Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]

I am planning to attend York next April.  I hope I get to meet you then.

Thanks for all the kind comments! I often feel like I'm going out on a limb with management when I do something like this, but you know what? They don't pay me enough NOT to!

You wouldn't believe the flack I get on an average day over content, length, energy level etc... When I ask them for some input on just what they DO want to hear, I get: "oh whatever you think is best".

I want to thank Roger for taking the time to talk with me, and also for sending the second volume of "All Star Electric Trains". If you haven't read one, these special issues are all-new articles on the collecting side of the hobby, and almost every word is penned by Roger!

If you're into Post War stuff(and who isn't?), then get your hands on this one!

A superb interview, Jon, and I join others in complimenting you on your efforts to expand the hobby and stimulate interest among those who may not have been previously exposed to toy and model trains.

It was great to hear the familiar voice of my old colleague and friend, Roger Carp.  Haven't heard from Roger since he called me a couple of years ago, and I guess it's time for me to pick up the phone and reciprocate (I'm REALLY bad about keeping in touch with folks--no excuse for that).

Again, thanks for a job well done!

I agree with you regarding the All Star Electric Trains specials, Jon. I missed out on last year's issue and would love to get my hands on one. Not a PDF file, but a real copy. Any one got an extra out there?

Jon, you're gonna blow the image. I've worked in talk radio for almost 30 years and have never worn a tie. What did you have to do that day, go to traffic court? Big Smile [:D]

As a matter of fact, that's my Lionel catalog cover tie! I thought it was the perfect accessory for Take A Model Train To Work Day.

I WAS asked by 63% of my co-workers if I had an interview.

Of course I don't work in Talk Radio like you Rush Beck, or whoever you are!

When my Mom was still alive, she once came down to the studio. I was wearing torn cutoffs and sandals and an old football jersey and hadn't shaved in 4-5 days. You can guess her reaction.

"This is how you dress?" At which point I explained that 99 percent of radio is "Theatre Of The Mind."

But I am jealous of that tie. But none exists for us American Flyer guys as far as I know.
