Is this set a good deal at $124.00 set has MP15 loco 5 cars 4 vehicals a set of figures and a loop of track no xformer.

I like the k-line MP15 locomotives and the KCC Mp15 cost me $100 new

I have the Lionel construction set and the k-line set would be a good complement to it.

Yeah, that's a good deal depending on who it is for. I haven't seen the engine, so I can't say for sure... I have seen several of the cars and they are unpainted molded yellow plastic. Fine for a kid's train set. But if the loco shell is also the molded yellow plastic, it will undoubtedly glow with the cab light on.

To be fair, this K-Line set is a BIG IMPROVEMENT over the el-cheapo bottom line Lionel version. the Lionel set is also unpainted plastic, but the loco is also all plastic with a single motor. I heard many complaints on what a poor set that one was - even at it's price point. Lionel could have done much much better and still kept the price down.

The K-Line MP-15 has die-cast trucks with dual motors. I picked up one of the K-Line Construction set dump cars for my nephew and was pleasantly surprised to see it had die-cast trucks. Going from memory I thought the set had plastic trucks on the cars, but maybe they didn't... which makes the set even a better deal.

By the way, don't know where you got the KCC MP-15? They were $45 brand new from K-Line duringthe KCC promotion and a little more after that from K-Line. They were very popular and sales of them even surprised K-Line. They are therefore quite common and you should have been able to find one for half of what you paid... certainly no more than $75. Given what you paid for that, and in comparison to the Lionel Construction set, the K-Line set will make you very happy.

I bought a K-Line KCC MP15 for $50.00 new about 11 years ago, had a problem with one of the motors running at a differant speed, sent it back to K-Line and was fixed for free.  Very good running locomotive now.

K-Line had some good train items and a decent price on them, if only K-Line & Lionel could have reached an agreement instead of a lawsuit!  I have bought other K-Line stuff over the years, but now who will do the warranty repairs? Or does Lionel just figure on letting the warranty run out of time to avoid repairs?
