It's not my bag, but I came into this stuff yesterday and am curious as to what it is. The person who gave them to me says they are Lionel. They are in really bad shpae, but if someone could help identify this stuff, I would be appreciative:

I'll look in my TCA book that covers all those. I think they are in it . Are there any numbers on the cars or eng?

Thanks, John

I can see the last car is a 500, made from 1926-32

Actually, no 500 - porbably just looks like one.

They are - 530, 529, two 629's and a 607. Through the grim, I can make out the words "The Lionel Lines" on the 607.

OK, the 530 & 529s were made in 1926-1932. the 629's were same as the 529 except no mottled green celluoid in windows in early sets. made in 1924 -32

Now ther'es nothing in here about a 607. Has a 605 & 606 then goes to 610.

All of the items you have are prewar Lionel items.  The warning sign appears to be the #68 Warning Signal made by Lionel from 1925 through 1942.  The common color was green for the lattice post, which in later years became solid.  The crusty looking thing with the round head is the #83 Traffic And Crossing Signal made by Lionel between 1927 and 1942.  The top used to hold a blinking light with the openings covered in red celluloid.  The base typically was red, the body yellow, and the top was white.  These are relatively tough to find in excellent condition.  Finally, your five cars:  The 529 and 530 were made from 1926 through 1932.  The red colored variety that you have were more typically found with a set that included the Lionel Electric Engine #248.  The 629s were available from 1924 through 1932, with the red version starting in 1930.  The unique thing about these four cars is that they only have 2 rigid axles (typically refered to as the "four wheel series").   These were the entry-level cars that Lionel offered at the time.  Some of the 529 and 530s were illuminated, while others were not.  Some that did not have the wiring still had a hole drilled through the base.  The 607 pullman was sold from 1926 through 1937.  Yours appears to be green with orange inserts, putting it pre-1930.  Below is a picture of the #83 Crossing Signal to give you a better idea of what it use to look like.
