What would your Cardinal baseball set be?
Posted by AKKevinT on Saturday, October 28, 2006 12:27 AM
I just finished watching Game 5! As a Cardinal fan I have been waiting since '82 for the game I watched tonight– it was worth it!

Tip of the hat to the Tigers no doubt they will be back and probably very soon. Detroit a great team and their manager is one the best that can be found from any era. He won't let this series stop that team.

But the 2006 title belongs to the "St. Louis Cardinals World Champions!"

What type Ogauge piece(s) or set would you Cards fans like to see be offered to mark their 10th World Series Championship?

I cast my vote for Williams to produce a five passenger car set called the "Red Bird Express". I would like to see the something modeled after the red striped series of Lionel passenger cars like:
2442 then Clifton & now 1029 Carpenter
2443 New addition 1023 Eckstein
2444  then Newark & now 1027 Rolen
2445 then Elizabeth & now 1037 Suppan
2446 then Summit & 1004 Molina

These would best be fueled by a 1005W Pujois Tender and lead by a 2010 LaRussa Prairie Steam Engine w/smoke (of course) Nothing fancy just a set that gets the work done and delivers!

And for you non-cardinal fans. . .
What O gauge piece do you think should be produced to mark their Championship season?

Regards from the Freezer!

Why would they?  They do not make an Ohizo State set or car [notice Lionel made a Michigan car Wink [;)]].

K-Line or MTH already made an Ohio car after the Buckeyes won the National Championship in football.

The rarest of cars that you will ever see is the Browns Super Bowl car.

I'm happy with the White Sox World champion subway cars... Does St. Louis have a subway?

I like the sound of this set! Good matches between the cars and the players!

PS can anyone help me understand why I get strings of html instead of formatting the intended quote?

Doug,

I don't remember any subways when I lived in St. Louis but there used to be a lot trolley cars a long time ago.

No subway in St. Louis, although when our office was on Market street, we would get asked directions a lot - people seem to expect a subway?!  As a city, St. Louis is more or less an old man, with most people commuting in during the day and declining population, despite busybodies and politicos endlessly creating new projects to encourage people and businesses to move back.  I think this last census they claimed a slight increase in population, but it was probably all smoke and mirrors.

We do have Metrolink now: http://www.metrostlouis.org/MetroBus/SystemMap.asp

More interesting, we have: http://www.museumoftransport.org/

Kevin,

We cant forget about the bat boys. How 'bout a log dump car that dumps little baseball bats. Or I guess they would be king size bats in O gauge.

Trying to think of a good freight car for Molina????

Or one for Taguchi????

Paul,

Great idea to have a log dump car full of bats! Perfect.

As for Molina and Taguchi I am still thinking but no answers yet.

What ever Molina is it needs to be slow and super dependable.
