Well, I went out and purchased Lionel's 6-12038 elevated trestle set and set up a section comprised of straight and curved track. There doesn't seem to be any trouble in mixing straights and curves. However, I find that the arrangement is very wobbly, especially where the piers fit into the base. Even if the bases were fastened down, this "wobbliness" remains. Also, the plastic pins that connect and hold the 10 inch spacers onto the brackets which fits atop the piers tend to disconnect too easily.
The posts making up the piers have holes in the bottoms. Perhaps by putting in screws that fit the configuration, the wobbliness may disappear. Before I cause additional damage, however, I thought I'd better see if anyone in this audience has experience, knows a better way to correct the situation, or brings to my attention something I've missed in the instructions.
I'm going to try to reach Lionel by phone next week to see if they can offer guidance as well.
Thanks for any help!
