Locating pictures of products

I'm having difficulty finding a picture and description of a Lionel product in the Lionel web-site such that I can identify a product for sale in the many advertisements.  Lionel's product navigator doesn't return any information on most of the part numbers that I have entered.  Also, when trying to find other products, such as K-Line or MTH, it is difficult obtaining good pictures.  Any suggestions?

Are you entering the full item number? Lionel's item #s usually have "6" as a prefix. For instance, the 269E tinplate set in the current catalog has the item number 6-51009. Ditto for MTH's products. They usually have a prefix and suffix number (i.e. 10-1188-1). The only products that I have had trouble finding on Lionel's site are older products from, say, before the late '90s. I don't think I've ever had a problem locating an item on MTH's site using the full item number.

Finally, what is the Lionel item you're trying to find?

Trainz.com has a very large data base and most of the items have small pictures.

I often have good luck searching Ebay auctions for pictures.
