Lemax and Michael's
Posted by dwiemer on Thursday, September 14, 2006 7:47 PM

Just a quick note to let y'all know that Michael's has all the Lemax items out and some items go Fast!  If you go today through Saturday, ask one of the folks that work there for a discount card.  We got 25% off of a $100.00 purchase.  My wonderful bride bought me the Ferris wheel and other assorted items for the layout.  Some items are very nice and my wife who had purchased one of the Hawthorn Village sets is going to return the whole set and buy the Lemax set for the layout.Smile [:)]

In 2004 the selection at the Portage, MI Michael's location had more LEMAX than in 2005.

Have you noticed a change in the selection for 2006 at your locations of Michael's?

The Lemax buildings are very nice quality.

Does anybody have a "Big Lots" store near them. They  carry off brand ceramic buildings now and then. I purchased several buildings at $6.00 a piece a few years ago. Check out their toy department as well, for diecast cars and trucks.

At our Michael's, even the Christmas stuff has been on-shelf for weeks. Almost all of the Carnival animations are gone, as well as the village gas station. As usual, the Halloween "fortune teller" was sold-out days after it appeared. I got the last one (I missed-out last year). Joe

Ace Hardware stores carry Lemax (I think their sub-brand is Heritage Village or something like that). In Wisconsin the stein's Garden centers and Menards hardware chain also sell the line.

Most of my structures are Lemax, though last year I added the Higbee's department store from the Sears "Christmas Story" Line.

Marv Laster at Laster Hobby/ehobbytools.com is a big lemax retailer and he may have some items after they sell out in local shops. he also has an on-line catalog.

I did notice the change in items.  This year they seem to have a lot of carnival items, and at our local store, still have a lot.  The manager said that they will be having a sale this coming weekend.  As to Big Lots, we have scored there before, especially with the Mr.  Christmas items.  You just have to get lucky with them though.

If your local Michael's is sold out of a particular piece, make sure you check back every so often as they get restock orders.  Our Ferris Wheel was pulled from a new shipment.  I have been thinking about the dock, it looks real good and with minor modification would work as  a freight dock.

For those that have not used the Lemax items, they were being packaged under K-Line for awhile with a nice mark up.  Most of my items were purchased last year following the Christmas holicay, but then the available items are limited.
