Williams Golden Memory F-3s on Fastrack Remote Switches
Posted by okiechoochoo on Friday, September 8, 2006 12:46 PM

I was just wondering if anyone has run the Williams Golden Memory F-3s on the Fastrack remote switches.  If so, has there been any problems?  I know the Williams F3s would short out on the older Super O switches and so I decided against going that way but was wondering about the Fastrack ones.  I am especially interested in the 036 radius switches as that is probably what I would be using the most of.  Thanks for any comments.

I don't have Fastrac but would like to tell you to stay away from Lionel's switch # 6-23011 and 6-23010 if you have any Williams trains.  My GP9's and SD45's by Williams gave me such a problem on the Lionel switches that I took out all the Lionel switches # 6-23010 series and replaced them with GarGraves switches, also replaced the track with GarGraves.

Williams trains work fine on the older Lionel postwar 022 switches, any Lionel switches made after 1970 may give you problems with Williams locomotives, for me it was trial and error with Lionel switches.

Have you emailed Williams at thier tech support site to ask if there are any known or reported problems with Lionel Fastrac?

yes, I contacted Williams and they said they test their engines on Lionel tubular (postwar) switches and had not tested any on Fastrack.  They did not indicate they had heard of any problems.  They were aware of shorting problems with the older Lionel Super O.  That was about all they said

Have you tried going to the post about New Lionel Fastrac group at Yahoo.com? posted by lionelsuperotrack.  Somebody may be able to help you there.
