Reversing unit
Posted by TerryJW on Wednesday, September 6, 2006 5:32 PM

Hi everyone; I want to purchase a reversing unit to make a small trolly layout this Christmas for me and the grandchildren. I'am not sure what to purchase and where to purchase one. Also is there a way to have the trolly stop at a few areas and automatically restart by itsself. I will be using 3 rail track and will a reversing unit work with any 3 rail track Could someone recommend where to purchase a toy like trolly for the grandchildren and a few brands of track I could use.

THANK YOU any help would be greatly appreciated

Terry,

This is a Lionel trolley. It has very simple operation with minimal cost. Works on any three rail track.

It will operate automatically on a length of track with bumpers at each end. When it strikes a bumper it will reverse direction. Alot of fun for kids. Very inexpensive as well. If you want something that has timed stops along  the route you need some specialty electronics.  Someone here should be able to direct you.

If you are into electronics you can use this....

Itwill automatically stop and start your trolley

If you want to use the common rail or outside rail to help control the trolley I would suggest using GarGraves track as all three rails are insulated from each other. Insulating pins may be hard to find for GarGraves track so you could easily leave out a pin to insulate a section.
