LVTS smoke fluid
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, August 29, 2006 2:40 PM

Does anybody know if LVTS smoke fluid is still available?  I used to buy it at shows, but I haven't seen it lately.  I heard a rumor that MTH bought the formulas for the smoke fluid from LVTS, but I have never been able to confirm that the rumor is true.  Any info would be appreciated.

No, it's no longer being made, and hasn't been since about 2001. MTH has picked up several of the forumulas, including original, Diesel, Coal, and Christmas.

For most of the other formulas, you can find equivalent replacements in the extensive Mega-Steam line of 30-some-odd scents. www.megasteam.com . I really like Wood Stove, which I'm not sure has an equivalent in the original LVTS line.

Ben,

Thanks for clearing that up for me.  Do you know if the wood burning scent that MTH makes, which is hickory, smells like the old LVTS hickory.  I had a bottle of the LVTS hickory, and I liked it.  The hickory Mega Steam just doesn't smell the same to me.

The MTH scents are based on the old LVTS formulas.  They should match up with what you remember.

I agree.  I also loved the "Smokey Fir" one as well as the Hickory.  (smokey fir was the purple text labeled bottle).

If MTH is making Smokey Fir, I would love to know which one it is.  From the names of the scents I always see in the catalogs and in stores, this one didn't make the cut for some reason.

Dave,

The Smokey Fir scent you mentioned might be close to Wood Stove Mega Steam.  The description for Wood Stove is "burnt , smokey pine scent".  Several forum members, including myself, use Mega Steam, and we are very happy with it.  Here is a link to the Mega Steam site:  http://megasteam.com/

Jim's suggestion of JT's MegaSteam is great.  I use it all the time [as does a lot of the gang].  Smokes great.

They have recently added " Maple Sugar " to the list, but they can't make a Gritts scent because it is prohibited by  the Interstate Commerce Commision & the FRA, & AAR, FDA, DOT, ATF, & FBI & a host of other state & Federal laws !!  Laugh [(-D]Laugh [(-D]Laugh [(-D]Laugh [(-D]

Hope this helps !!

Thanks, John
